“Yeah, but we’ll give her a home to be proud of soon. There’s no way I’d let her go back there without us and we sure as shit need to keep her surrounded by our brothers for a while,” Digger added.

King knew Digger was right. Even when they’d killed Dane and the Riot members, she’d always be in some danger purely because she was theirs. He knew he should feel guilty for that but he didn’t. Maybe he would have if they’d pulled her into this life, but her life had intersected with theirs on its own. And now they were rescuing her from the worst side of it.

Chapter ten

Bianca

They arrived at her apartment complex in the club’s truck. She wanted to argue that she could keep her apartment - it was hers and she was attached to it. Yet she knew she’d never sleep peacefully there again, the night of her kidnapping had forever tainted the space. It was part of her old life and she wanted a fresh start with her guys far more than a place of her own.

Bones held her hand as they walked up the stairs to her place. As they approached her door she realised that she didn’t have her keys.

“How are we getting in?”

Digger turned around and smirked at her as he pulled a small leather case from his jean pocket.

“I learned plenty of things in my delinquent youth.”

He kneeled down and started to pick her lock. The door clicked open and Bones held her in place as King and Digger went inside. A couple of minutes later they came back to the door. They both looked pissed and only nodded as they opened the door wide enough for them to enter.

She should have expected what she saw, still it hadn’t occurred to her that her place would be destroyed. She could see her mattress shredded and sticking out of her bedroom doorway, her couch was torn apart and the stuffing thrown everywhere. Her fridge had been left open and rotting food decorated the kitchen floor and counters. The smell was nauseating and flies now inhabited her apartment. She could distinctly smell urine and shit too. She didn’t want to know where it was coming from. Tears sprung to her eyes. There really was nothing left of her old life. Her grip on Bones’ hand tightened.

Digger bent to look her in the eye, blocking her view of her apartment, “Don’t focus on any of this. Me and King are going to box up everything that isn’t damaged and we’ll sort through it away from here. You go in the bedroom and pack up any clothes that you can salvage.”

Bones moved the mattress and led her into her bedroom. Her tears fell as she saw photo albums and books torn to pieces and picture frames smashed and the photos ripped. All her drawers had been emptied and the contents spilled on the floor. She bent to collect her bras and a sob broke free. She reminded herself that this was just stuff and could all be replaced, yet she still felt heartbroken.

Bones pulled her into his arms, hugging her tight and she let her tears fall as she clung to his large chest. When she caught her breath and her tears finally dried, Bones framed her face and she saw compassion and sympathy in his azure eyes. He pressed a soft kiss to her lips and stroked her hair. She reminded herself that although she’d lost a lot, she’d gained a lot too.

She could hear Digger and King packing her stuff up and leaving to put it in the truck. She needed to get a move on. She tried to smile at Bones and pull herself together. She sighed and got back to picking up her clothes. Luckily, most of it hadn’t been damaged, just thrown about and she ended up with two bin bags full. Bones too them to the truck.

She took one last look around her place and left to give the guys a hand loading the truck. She stepped outside and heard a distinctive pop. Her side burned, her legs went out from under her and she fell to the ground. Bones, Digger and King were running towards her and pulling their guns, yet everything seemed to be in slow motion. Digger threw himself on top of her while Bones and King fired their guns at someone she couldn’t see.

The firing stopped and Bones and King sprinted away. Digger tore his tee off and pressed it against her side. She flinched away from the burning pain and tried to move away as she felt her side was sticky with blood.

“Put your arms around my neck, we need to get out of here,” Digger ordered.

Bianca did as he said. She wouldn’t dare argue with him right then. He looked murderous. He bundled her up and placed her on the floor of the truck and then turned, slamming the sliding door shut before climbing in the driver’s seat.
