Until then, if she needs to see Tahani or talk to her, I'm all for it.

Regardless of what is said, though, Mila isn't leaving me. I'll drag her back, kicking and screaming if I have to do it. She's mine. My entire fucking future rests in her little hands. I'll do whatever I have to do to keep her with me.

"Let me up, baby," I murmur to her when my phone starts ringing from the kitchen.

"I'm comfortable," she grumbles and then lets me slide out from underneath her, her eyes still riveted to the television and whatever the fuck they're digging through the mud looking for.

I run a fingertip down her cheek and then head toward the kitchen to get my phone.

"Yeah?" I ask Finn, holding the phone to my ear.

"Are you secure?"

"Yeah."

"The raid is going forward," he says without preamble.

"About fucking time," I mutter, my heart slamming against my ribcage. It's almost over. Fucking finally. "When?"

"Early Monday morning. The FBI and ICE are sending a team. The DEA is sending in Jason Ames from Seattle and a couple of their guys from Sinaloa to help get shit sorted." He snorts like he doesn't think we need the help, but I'll take anyone they want to send us so long as it means we're finally doing this.

"What about the two agents Guerrero's people tried to kill?" I wouldn't mind getting a chance to talk to them. If they were worried enough to blow up a club with one of them inside, I have a feeling they think he knows more about their plans than they'd like. I want to know what they were trying so fucking hard to hide.

"No," Finn says. "Ames was adamant that we leave Riley out of it for the time being. He's still pretty fucked up. I'm not even sure if he's out of the hospital yet. And Kincaid, the agent who was shot, won't step foot in LA."

Shit. I know that name. Fucking everyone knows Kincaid's name. He's been taking down gangs and MCs in Seattle for years. He's the only goddamn thing they fear. They've been trying to kill him for seven years now and can't ever seem to finish the damn job. Every time they try, he just comes back and rips their fucking worlds apart. I've never met him, but I know why he won't step foot in LA. The shit he went through here, well, I wouldn't come back, either. I won't ask him to unless we have no other choice.

"Are you fucking sure you want to do this, Roman?" Finn asks. "You know these motherfuckers and their hideouts better than anyone, but we can find a different way."

"I'm positive," I say, swallowing hard at his words. I've been planning for this for days, but now that the time has come, a tiny flicker of hesitation flows through me.

"There will be no going back if you're with us on this," he reminds me.

"I know. I'm not changing my mind," I tell him, my voice soft.

Finn curses and then sighs. "You've had a good run, man. Ten years is a long fucking time for this shit."

"I'm ready," I murmur, glancing back toward the living room. Once we do this, there will be no more working undercover for me. Every gangbanger and cartel member in the fucking state will know I'm with the ATF. There will be no hiding behind masks, no getting inside places no one else can go.

No more lying to Tahani or worrying about Mila getting caught in the middle. For the first time in ten years, I'll be out. Done. Making the decision didn't require a single fucking second of thought. I know what I want—the blonde on my couch. My daughter. The rest of this shit isn't fucking worth it. Not anymore.

"I've got something else in mind for you," Finn says with a sigh. He'll never say it, but I think he's actually going to regret losing me. "We'll discuss it later."

"Yeah, sounds good." I stand there for a long moment after disconnecting. Until Mila, I never thought about getting out of undercover or about a life after this shit. I've spent the last ten years of my life dealing with gangbangers and cartels. But with my partner getting out, with Mila here, with Tahani not speaking to me…I'm ready to move on, to start living again.

I never fucking thought I'd live to see the day I wanted something else, but I do. So badly I can taste it.

When I make my way back to the living room, the television is off, and Mila is nowhere to be found. I check the deadbolts on the front door, turn off the lights, go back to the kitchen to check the locks on that door, and then head upstairs to find her.
