“I promise,” she whispered.
I pressed my lips to her hair. “Be my moon,” I begged.
She began to cry, breaking my fucking heart. “I’m trying.”
“Just keep trying, beautiful,” I soothed. “You’ll glow again; I promise.”
Ally
I was sitting between Christian’s legs, my back resting against his chest. Caiden was laying sideways across the bed, playing a random game on his phone. We were staying at Axel and Julian’s until the cops were finished at our house and repairs could be done.
My phone vibrated in my hand, a blocked number showing up on my screen. Christian plucked the phone from my hands and answered the call, putting it on speaker.
“How’s your pussy feel, bitch?” Randall’s voice snarled through the phone.
Axel and Julian had both stepped into the room as soon as Randall’s voice came through the phone. All of the blood drained from my face, my body shaking. Tears poured down my cheeks, and I squeezed my eyes shut, my lungs screaming for air as fear clawed at my throat.
I didn’t want them to know who did this to me. Randall had promised to do it all over again if I opened my mouth. I couldn’t go through this again.
“I’ll fucking kill him!” Julian roared at the same time Christian aggressively threw my phone across the room. Caiden jumped off the bed and stormed out of the house. “Did he fucking do this to you, Ally?” Julian barked at me. “Was this fucking Randall’s doing?”
I wailed, shaking so hard I could barely think. Despite his rage, Christian wrapped his body around mine, holding me and making me feel safe and protected. “Calm your fucking shit!” Axel roared at Julian. “You’re not the only one that’s fucking pissed, but taking it out on her isn’t going to do shit but make my sister feel worse! So, shut the fuck up!”
Julian stormed out of the room. I sobbed, my body still aching so badly. Axel sat on the bed and grabbed my hands in his. “Baby, breathe,” Christian coaxed, gently rocking me side to side. “Come on, baby. I won’t ever let him fucking hurt you again,” he promised.
“H-he promised to do it a-again,” I sobbed. “I’m s-sorry.”
“Nothing to be sorry for,” Christian soothed, tightening his hold on me. “You’re scared. There’s nothing wrong with trying to protect yourself.”
“Julian, no!” Meghan shouted. “Julian, don’t you fucking go after him!”
“Shit,” Axel swore, jumping off the bed to go stop Julian from doing something stupid.
“Goddammit,” Christian swore as he released me. “Stay here, baby.” He rushed after Axel. “Caiden!” Christian roared down the stairs.
I pushed myself off the bed, forcing myself to walk down the stairs despite the pain that flared with every step I took. It was pure fucking agony. “You’re really about to stop me from taking care of the asshole that fucking did this to her?!” Caiden shouted at Christian as Axel spoke to Julian in low tones, Meghan standing with her arms wrapped tightly around Julian’s waist. I had no doubt she was the only thing keeping him together.
“Yes, because Ally needs you here, not in prison!” Christian barked at him.
I resisted the urge to wail in pain as I forced myself to walk onto the porch. I stepped around Christian and wrapped my arms around Caiden’s waist. His body relaxed, his arms instantly wrapping around me as well. “You shouldn’t be out of bed,” he grumbled, burying his face in my dark, brown hair.
“Orange won’t look good on you,” I mumbled.
He sighed, adjusting his hold on me so he could support most of my weight. I breathed a sigh of relief. “I wouldn’t go to prison, Ally.”
I shook my head. “Not risking it,” I told him. “Now, carry me back upstairs. Everything hurts.”
He leaned down and gently lifted me into his arms. Christian smiled at me before he leaned down to press his lips to mine. When Caiden eased me back down onto the soft mattress in the room we were staying in, I grabbed his hand before he could move away. I wanted him close to me, not only to keep him from doing something stupid but because I felt safe with him around.
He flashed me that easy-going Caiden smile and laid down on the bed beside me. Christian slid on behind me, his arm wrapping around my waist as I held Caiden’s hand captive in my own, holding him with me.
I looked up at Caiden. “Don’t go,” I quietly begged him. He helped keep the fear at bay.
He sighed before he pressed a kiss to my forehead. “I’ll stay as long as you want me to,” he assured me.
“M’kay,” I mumbled, sleep tugging at me.
He gently squeezed my hand. “Sleep, darlin’.”
Christian
“She’s falling for you,” I quietly told my brother once Ally’s breathing evened out, her body relaxing into sleep as much as it could.
