He pressed another kiss to my belly and nodded his head. “Yeah,” he told me honestly. “I just tried to keep my excitement to a minimum because I knew you weren’t and because I knew you were struggling to come to terms with it.”

“I’m sorry,” I whispered. “Please don’t ever hide how you’re really feeling,” I begged him. “It would have helped me so much to know that you were really happy about this.”

He stood back up and pulled me into his arms. “I love you,” he softly told me, brushing his lips to my temple.

I smiled up at him. “And I love you.”

Christian

Ally glowered at Caiden when he snatched her bag of pretzels from her hand and took a handful. I laughed softly. Ally and Caiden had a weird sort of dynamic. Most of the shit he did, he did on purpose to annoy her, to put that fire in her eyes.

I knew my brother had feelings for Ally. I wasn’t blind. But whereas I soothed her, comforted her, held her down, and kept her grounded, kept her from losing herself in her darkness, he put a fight in her.

So, I kept my mouth shut. I just wanted Ally to be happy.

If that meant that sometime down the road, she grew feelings for my brother, then so be it. Menage relationships were becoming more and more common these days, and oftentimes, they worked out really well. I mean, hell, look at Meghan, Julian, and Axel. Their dynamic was beautiful to witness.

I just didn’t know if my brother could handle something like that—being in a committed relationship with a woman. I knew my brother well. He was bisexual, but he preferred men over women, though he liked both.

And if he decided he wanted to be with her, too, I didn’t know if Ally would be able to handle the fact that Caiden would still explore relationships with other men.

When I first met Ally, first saw those fucking pretty brown eyes, yeah, I might have lost my shit if someone looked at her the way my brother was looking at her right now.

But the way his annoyance made her eyes shine? There was no way in fucking hell I could be angry at him.

He helped my woman glow, and that was more than I could ever ask for.

“Caiden, I’m going to punch you in your jaw,” she snapped at him as she snatched her bag of pretzels back.

He smirked at her. “I’d like to see you try,” he teased, practically taunting her.

Before she could say something back, she yawned. I wrapped an arm around her, pulling her closer to me. “Sleepy?” I asked her.

She nodded, snuggling closer to me, letting her eyes close. Caiden stood up when she was almost asleep and grabbed her bag of pretzels from her lap. “Thank you,” she mumbled as she turned her body so she was draped over my lap, her head resting on my shoulder.

I slid my arms beneath her and stood up from the couch, carrying her to our bedroom. I pressed a kiss to her cheek as I laid her down on the soft mattress. “I’ll join you in a little bit,” I told her quietly. “Go to sleep, beautiful.”

She snuggled into the blankets and nodded her head. I smiled at her.

Fuck, she was so perfect—just like the moon.

I slipped back out of the room, pulling the door closed, but not shutting it completely. Caiden was picking up Ally’s trash off the coffee table, dumping it into the trash can he had in his other hand. He glanced up at me before he went back to what he was doing. “Surprised you didn’t go to bed with her,” he commented.

I stuffed my hands in my pockets. “I wanted to talk to you about something.”

He arched an eyebrow at me in question as he walked to the kitchen to put the trash can back. “What’s that?” he asked, giving me his undivided attention now that the trashcan was back in its rightful spot.

I stood on the other side of the bar, watching as he began washing his hands. “For exactly how long have you had feelings for Ally?” I asked him.

He stayed quiet, but he continued washing his hands. I sighed. He did this shit when he didn’t want to start a fight. He figured silence was always the best answer.

Which confirmed what I already knew. He had feelings for Ally.

“Caiden, I’m not going to be pissed,” I assured him. “I can see the way you look at her.” He turned the water off and began drying his hands, still staying quiet. “Bro, fucking look at me,” I snapped, getting annoyed.

He finally looked up at me. He tossed the dishtowel in his hands onto the counter, crossing his arms over his chest. “What?” he snapped back at me. “So, I have feelings for her. I know how to ignore them, Christian. She needs you. I’m not intruding on that. You’re the best fucking thing for her. I can move on just like I have every other time I’ve started falling for someone.”
