He even lets Jayme in the club to visit.
“I am,” I huff. “It’s just so hard to walk around each day knowing that I have nobody after me, that I’m truly free. I don’t know what to do with it. I don’t even know where to begin.”
“You can begin by sittin’ down because you’re not supposed to be hopping around on that leg.”
I laugh, shuffling over and placing my bottom on the edge of the bed. “What am I going to do with myself now?”
He walks over, stopping in front of me and looking down. “I can think of one thing you can do.”
“I am not sucking your cock, Mexican. I’m an invalid.”
He growls, low, taking my chin in his hand and tipping my head back. “See you haven’t lost your sassy mouth.”
“Never.”
A knock at the door has him glancing over and yelling out to whoever it is to come in. Bonnie steps inside, with Myla following close behind. They look like they’re desperate to share some news and are practically bouncing with anticipation. Bonnie is fumbling her hands together, like it’s almost impossible for her to keep her mouth closed a second longer.
She’s hilarious.
“Sorry to break up the sex party,” Myla teases, “but you’ll never guess what just happened.”
Mex turns to face them, crossing his arms. “It better be fuckin’ good.”
“Oh,” Bonnie grins. “It’s positively wicked.”
I can’t help but laugh at her dramatics.
“Well, are you goin’ to spill or are you goin’ to leave us here all day?” Mex grumps.
“Fury just got a call that his sister has been sent to prison,” Myla blurts.
My eyes widen.
Myla continues. “Something about drugs. Apparently, she’s bad news. Anyway, she has a kid and there is no one else to send the kid to. So, she wants Fury to take her. If he doesn’t, she has to go into the system.”
Oh man.
That is juicy.
“Is he going to take her?” I ask, eyes wide. “How old is she?”
“She’s like, five or six. I don’t know if he even knew about her. Apparently, he and his sister haven’t spoken in a long time,” Myla shrugs. “But man, it is intense out there.”
“Fuck,” Mex mutters, stepping away. “Better go see if he needs somethin’.”
“Fury as a fill in dad,” I say, grinning. “That is interesting.”
Mex leans down, kissing my forehead. “I’ll leave you girls to drown in your gossip.”
As he steps away, I flash him a smile.
He gives me one back. The first one he has presented to me that’s genuine. It’s real and filled with hope for a future.
It’s bliss.
It makes my heart sing.
It gives me hope.
As he leaves the room, Bonnie and Myla rush in and sit on the bed beside me, and there, we talk about all the possibilities for Fury and his niece. I’ve never felt like I’ve been part of anything this real in my life, and as I sit here with these girls, I know that this club could easily become my family.
How the tables have turned.
I started out wanting to see them end, and now, I am beginning to wonder how I could live my life without them.
I think my freedom lies right here.
I think I’ve finally found my home.
In the arms of a biker.
Who would have thought?
