It’s glaringly obvious though that she knows nothing about my kind and how we mate, something that’s not so hard to believe since the other clans of the immortal world had distanced themselves from us as much as they could over the centuries and make it a point not to even mention us unless they’re telling their young ones horror stories to keep them out of dangerous places. We’re everybody’s boogieman.

And since this was only the second time in immortal history that a union such as this was taking place, there never really was any need for her to know fuck all about the way we fuck our women. How we care for, protect and love them and our offspring. And as my princess consort her status among our people will be second to none. Except mine of course!

All she knew, all anyone knows come to think of it, is that the one and only time this shit happened it ended in spilt blood and death. I looked at her now as she stood in front of me, strung tight as a bow as she tried to hide her fear and unease from me.

I knew, I always knew, that the only way to dispel her fear was to get the deed done and over with. But I never knew that I was so soft as to want to give my woman the wedding night that every girl dreams of. Silly me!

I was pissed that in her mind all she saw was a monster. But if I showed her my anger now she’d probably die of fright. This side of her, the fairy, was vastly different from the other but I was getting to know them both since they both seem to be in attendance at any given time. I wonder if that has something to do with her body’s changes.

I’ve known lots of mix breeds in my time but I have yet to meet one who vacillates between characters the way she does. It promises to be a fun ride if she keeps that shit up. Her lying mouth was asking me all the right questions as she looked up at me with a wide eyed stare and all the while deep inside her she was planning to bolt.

I’d planned to spend the night, to hold her in my arms again though the pain in my balls still lingered from me doing that shit the night before. But the fact that she planned to escape me and was even now standing before me acting all innocent was truly pissing me the fuck off so I needed to get away from her before I did or said something I shouldn’t.

“I’ll let you rest.” She had a look of surprise that I capitulated so easily and I kept my face void of all trace of emotion so she wouldn’t know what I was really thinking. I still remember that first day she’d told her sisters that she couldn’t leave me to suffer; she’d had the heart for that at least.

Now I’m going to wait and see what course she takes, it will make the difference between how we deal with each other in the coming days. If she runs, I’m going to teach her a lesson, one that she’ll never forget.

She didn’t see the look I gave her before I turned and left the way I came. She was too busy congratulating herself on getting rid of me that easily without any mishaps. What an innocent, geez.

NATALIA

Whew, that was easy! Easier than I would’ve thought. I guess my shielding skills are pretty good if I could fool the high and mighty crown prince. I felt just a little bit guilty about deceiving him though as he left. I have to say that so far he hasn’t been anything like I’d expected, quite the opposite in fact.

Although there was no doubt about the strength and power emanating from him, he always seems gentle, like in the dream. If only we could live out our lives there, how much simpler things would be. But alas that’s not an option and the only alternative is to risk my life; something I’m not prepared to do.

I sat on the side of my bed feeling despondent with a certain kind of melancholic loneliness that I’ve never known before. I felt his absence very keenly, as if something vital were suddenly missing.

I was too restless to stay in bed after he left and ran lightly down the stairs and slipped out of the house while the others laid asleep in their beds. Whereas before I’d strip bare without giving a thought to who might be around, now that he’d been here I was a bit hesitant.

I opened up my senses to see if perchance he was still here, lingering in the shadows, but he was long gone. I pulled the nightgown off over my head and slid naked into the cool water before turning onto my back to gaze up at the stars as I floated with my thoughts. “I’m sorry!” I whispered the words from my lips even though I knew he couldn’t hear them.
