I put the box and CJ down. “Carrie, can you walk CJ outside and get him in the car seat?”

She takes his hand, and I watch as they walk outside.

Chrissy comes over to me. “What is it? What’s wrong?”

I shake my head, knowing what I want to say, but this emotion is hard for me. “Nothing’s wrong. I love you. Do you know that?”

She looks at me curiously. “Yeah, I know.”

I gesture to where our kids just walked out the door. “Thank you for giving me this life…” I take a deep breath. “Do I make you happy?”

Her eyebrows raise. “Where is this coming from, Gabe?”

I shrug. “I dunno. I’m feeling overwhelmed with gratitude. When I look back on my life, I never would have dreamed it would be this good. I owe it all to you, and well, it just got me thinking. I hope you’re happy… with me.”

She puts her hands at my waist. “You want to know if I’m happy with you?”

I nod, holding my breath, waiting for some kind of assurance.

She kisses my chest, right over my heart. “Yeah, honey. I’m happy. You make me happy. You know sometimes I feel the same way. I think my life is so good, and I wonder if I deserve it, but then I think about you and our family. I may not deserve it, but it makes me appreciate it even more. I love you with my whole heart, Gabriel Gray.”

I feel her words straight to my heart. “Me too, baby. Me too. Come on, let’s go spend the day with our family.”

She puts her hand in mine. “Lead the way, husband. I’ll follow you anywhere.”

I kiss her, tilting her head to deepen the kiss. “I’m going to lead you to bedroom when we get home later.”

She goes to her tiptoes and kisses my cheek. “You got a date, handsome.”

Hand in hand, we walk outside to where our kids are waiting.

“Who’s ready for a good time?” I holler in the truck, and my wife and kids all yell their excitement. Yeah, I’m one lucky man, and I’m going to enjoy this life of mine.
