There isn’t a thing I can do about it either. I’m a red-blooded male like anyone else. And like the others, I can’t help but be affected by the sight of her in that dress. It’s practically painted onto her body, molded to her every curve, leaving very little to the imagination. It looks like a single, quick tug would send it falling to pieces.
And there are, oh, so many males wanting to be the one to do the tugging. Even a handful who looked to be paired off can’t help but watch her when their mates aren’t looking, their eyes lingering a moment too long. There are a lot of hard dicks in this room right now, all thanks to her.
She’s loving it. She’s blocked me out of her head, but I feel it. I see it in the way her cheeks flush and how her eyes sparkle as she giggles at something one of those assholes said. There are four of them around her now, all of them jockeying for her attention. Pathetic. She doesn’t seem to think it’s so pathetic, does she? No, she’s the belle of the ball, a real-life Cinderella who spent years on the outside, looking in. Now she’s part of things, and she’s going to enjoy every last second of it.
When she belongs to me. The fucking audacity.
Even when my original intent was to kill her.
I decide then that I need a drink. It’s either drink something or kill someone, and I believe the first is a better option at this point.
Forcing myself, I turn away from the sickening sight of Lili flirting with other males and head straight for the bar. On my way, I overhear one of the females from Lili’s pack clicking her tongue as she watches the scene. “Yeah, she’s newly turned, but she doesn’t have to be a slut about it,” she mutters, and I almost turn to throw her across the room, clenching my hands into tight fists before forcing myself to continue moving past her.
A slut? No one has the right to call her that, but I refuse to debase myself and make a scene over this. I’m not going to give Lili the satisfaction, and I know it will. That little wink she dropped earlier today told me so.
“Double whiskey,” I grunt to the bartender, and I’m grateful when the drink appears quite suddenly. I need it. I need it badly. After downing half of it in one go, I feel more like myself. Like I can handle this. I’m not going to show her how this is affecting me. I refuse.
I turn away from the bar, raising my glass to take another sip of my drink when the music changes to something slower. Naturally, my attention is focused solely on Lili, who laughs when the tallest of the four wolves takes her hand and begins leading her to the otherwise empty dance floor.
No. No fucking way will I allow this to happen, and yet my feet are rooted to the floor, and I’m forced to watch as she lets him lead her out there, coming to a stop in the center of the floor. There is no way I’m watching him draw her close, a hand in the middle of her back. He is not touching her. He is not that close to my fucking property!
I’m going to fucking kill him, then I’ll fuck her in the puddle of his blood, listening as she comes on my cock with his body beside us. The glass in my hand shatters, and I’m not sure if anyone else notices. I don’t care. My complete focus is on Lili and the fucker with his hands on her.
“Whoa, whoa, easy there.” There are only two people in this room who could stop me: my father and Forrest. It happens to be Forrest, who crossed the room at warp speed, knowing how I would react to this. He stands in front of me, angled in such a way that he can watch what’s taking place on the dance floor.
“He’s fucking dead,” I growl, seething, each breath I take harder than the last. Red tints my vision.
“Hold on. Can’t you see what’s happening?” he whispers. “This has to be some kind of a test. You’re being watched. Somebody wants to see how you’re going to react. Don’t blow it by losing control now.”
His words make sense and reach the rational part of my brain just in time. The rest of me seethes at the sight of the two of them dancing and Lili laughing softly. He has no right. She is mine, no matter the reason for the bite. Mine.
Even so, she strains upward, her lips seeking his cheek. I see it happening in slow motion, unfolding like a horrific crash I can’t look away from. She’s doing this; she’s really pushing it this far. Pushing up on her tiptoes, her plump lips make contact with his cheek.
