“So you see, in order to give your Manimal this dose of antidote, I’ll have to let my poor husband go Manimal himself again,” Goodie Bo-long continued. “But I’m willing to do it because you’ve been excellent company…up until now.”
“Thank you but why can’t Cade take it in the morning?” Andi asked.
“Why, because it has an extremely short shelf-life, my dear. This batch has been ‘cooking’ for well over a week,” Goodie Bo-long explained. “And it will take me another week to get a new batch ready to go. Meanwhile, this current antidote is only good for the next few minutes before it begins to degrade. So I must ask you again, do you want me to inject your Manimal with it or not?” She nodded at Cade.
Cade still had his arm around Andi’s waist and now he dipped his head and nuzzled her hair briefly.
“If you’d rather, I can give this batch to my husband and then cook a new batch for you,” Goodie Bo-long went on, before Andi could answer. “But it will take another week. You can stay here, of course—I think we have a rather unlikely but mutually beneficial friendship. I keep you off the streets and you and your Manimal keep me entertained with your constant fucking.” She winked. “I do love a good show!”
Andi didn’t like this characterization of her time with Goodie Bo-long at all. It made her sound like some kind of whore! Plus, she didn’t want to hang around the other woman anymore, now that she knew her hostess was responsible for turning half the population of the planet into mindless Manimals and also that she was fucking her stepson. Which just seemed needlessly and egregiously nasty. Who does that?
Goodie Bo-long did, apparently, and Andi didn’t want to spend another minute with her if she could help it. However, she couldn’t let her disgust show on her face.
“I appreciate the offer,” she said carefully. “But I really need to get Cade back to the Mother Ship. We were only supposed to be gone for a day and they’ll be extremely worried about both of us.”
“Ah, well—it was fun while it lasted,” Goodie Bo-long remarked. Then she snatched a syringe from the table filled with scientific equipment and plunged it into Cade’s muscular shoulder.
The big Hybrid let out a roar and started to round on her, but almost as quickly as she’d injected him, Goodie Bo-long pulled the needle free and stepped aside.
“Cade, no! It’s all right! It’s all right!” Andi tried to soothe him. “Look here—have some Sweet Drops.” She opened her loose silk blouse and offered him her breasts.
Cade seemed to forget about the pain of the injection at once. Leaning down, he wrapped his arms around her and sucked one of her nipples into his hot mouth.
“Ohhh,” Andi moaned softly. “That’s right—everything will be all right now,” she murmured, stroking his shaggy hair.
“That remains to be seen, I think,” Goodie Bo-long remarked caustically. “It all depends on how long the antidote takes to work on him and when he comes back to his right mind. But I wish you luck, my dear.”
“Er…thank you,” Andi panted. “Oh!”
Her last word was a gasp because Cade suddenly picked her up and swung her into his arms. There was a gleam of lust in his golden eyes and she knew exactly what was in store for her.
Not that she minded—despite all the crazy things she’d just learned and the fact that Cade had bred her not even an hour ago, she found she wanted him all over again. In fact, she ached to have him inside her!
Am I really going to have to live with a sex drive this extreme for the rest of my life? she wondered as Cade carried her up the stairs and away from the sordid scene in the basement.
She supposed she might have to, which could spell trouble in the future. But for right now, at least, she had the means to scratch her itch.
Of course, she still wondered what would happen when the antidote kicked in and Cade came back to himself and she had to explain what the two of them had been doing while he was out of his mind. But that was a problem for later.
