“Don’t talk about him like that, or it’s gonna feel like you’re fucking my little brother.”

Beast snorted. “I don’t know. Maybe he is. Any long-lost relatives?” he teased as they entered the common room with its red walls. The low buzz of the sound system being adjusted meant Lizzy was at it again. He sat on the edge of the stage with a notebook, while the band’s bass player worked on the electronics.

“Ew. You’re suggesting I’ve had incestuous thoughts.”

Beast raised his finger at Knight. “No.”

Knight laughed out loud, looking like he had no care in the world when he waved at Fox and Joker who sat on the sofa rolling joints. Fortunately for everyone, the topic died the moment they both spotted Laurent.

He sat curled up in a leather armchair, reading a book in the glow of the spotlight. The moment his eyes shot up and met Beast’s gaze, the wide smile that bloomed on the handsome face made Beast’s heart skip a beat.

For a moment, he was so focused on Laurent’s eyes that he almost walked into the coffee table, but fortunately reason came back quickly enough, and he adjusted his steps, taking a seat in a chair. “What’s the book?” he asked, reaching out to the table and picking up a small bottle of Coke from a tray of drinks.

Laurent showed him the cover which had a lightning bolt hitting a kite. “It’s a book on the history of electricity. Knight’s promised to show me some basics in practice once I’m done with it.”

Beast squinted at Knight. “Yes to that.” Knight would never be disloyal and try to snatch Laurent for himself, but after such a long time alone, even the slightest possibility of losing Laurent to someone else felt like encroaching danger.

Knight spread his arms with a groan. “I’ll be showing him how to connect some cables, not checking out his socket.”

Joker spat some of the beer he was drinking back into the bottle, laughing so loudly Beast wanted to smack him. And worst of all, Laurent glanced their way, clearly confused and not getting the subtext of Knight’s joke. Well, fuck. At least Joker and Fox were straight unless completely drunk.

“I’m just saying.”

Laurent put away his book. “I learned how to cook popcorn today. Would you like to see?” He smiled and already got up from the seat.

Beast watched him move, quick-footed and graceful like a gazelle. The skinny jeans made Laurent’s buttocks look so fine Beast wished to pull them down and eat Laurent’s ass. Were he drunk enough in the dark, perhaps he might have not even cared if people watched it happen.

If he could justify it, he’d stop leaving his room and fuck Laurent around the clock. He wasn’t pushing for anal, too happy with what he was getting so far but considering how much Laurent enjoyed rimming, Beast was sure sooner or later he’d get to slide his dick into that tight pink hole. Better yet, he wanted Laurent to ask him for it.

The sound of the microwave humming in the background distracted him so much he didn’t notice someone approaching. A slap to the shoulder made him hiss, and pulled him out of pleasant thoughts so rapidly he wanted to punch the culprit.

“Arms on show today?” King asked and plopped his ass in the armchair Laurent had just vacated. “I hope you always put sunscreen on? You know, for the scars.”

Beast forced his hands to stay open and gave King a tight smile. He didn’t want to think of the scars on his body when Laurent was here, and he definitely didn’t want to be constantly pricked by King’s words. They were polite enough and wouldn’t seem vicious to the average bystander, but Beast could recognize each and every passive-aggressive note behind them. “I don’t need a nanny.”

Fox put his feet on the table. “That’s right. He’s over thirty. If he burns, it’s his problem.”

King rolled his eyes and opened himself a beer. “Not if it’s me who will then have to listen to him moaning about it.”

Another fucking empty statement, because Beast never moaned to King about shit like that. And it’d been dark for a while anyway, so sun wouldn’t be an issue until morning.

The sound of the microwave humming in the background distracted him. He had many other reasons to moan lately, and it made him unreasonably giddy that King had no idea. In fact, King probably thought Beast was chaste as a monk, jerking off each night and watching a rom-com when he felt particularly lonely.

Well, that might have been the case some weeks ago, but now Beast had someone who made his life infinitely better, and he didn’t need two girlfriends or a line of hangarounds sucking his dick at parties to prove his masculinity.

“No, he’s the kind who suffers in silence,” Joker said, making a face and stiffening his arms to imitate someone whose skin was so burnt from the sun they didn’t want to move.
