She smiled and pressed her cheek against his palm. “Of course, I’m okay. I’m a little shaken.”
“There’s an ambulance waiting outside to check her over.”
“I’m fine.”
Noah wasn’t taking no for an answer. He lifted her into his arms, even as she tried to fight him, and carried her out to the waiting ambulance.
“Seriously! What part of I’m fine, don’t you get?”
Noah didn’t care. He needed to hold her in his arms, and even as the ambulance crew checked her over, he didn’t let her go. He held her hand, pissing her off, as he stayed right by her side.
She had a little redness around her neck from where Rushmore strangled her, but other than that, she was fine.
Noah wanted to take her to the hospital, but she shook her head. “I just want to go home,” she said.
He couldn’t refuse her.
Wrapping his arms around her, he decided he’d deal with his office later. For now, he needed to make sure his woman was safe and protected. There was no way he was willing to put her life at risk, not again.

“I’m fine,” Sage said.
“And I’m going to make sure you stay fine.” Noah put the bowl of soup back on the tray. “Either you eat or I feed you.”
She smiled at him. Glancing down at the bowl, she was tempted to let him feed her, but then he’d be even more worried and she didn’t want that. She picked up the bowl and took a spoonful. It was a rich tomato soup, one of her favorites, and she swallowed some, feeling better already.
Noah reached out and tucked some of her hair behind her ear. “Seeing you in his arms with that gun pointed at your head—”
“I love you,” she said.
He chuckled. “I love you.”
“I’m never going to get tired of hearing that.”
“I was afraid.”
She put her spoon back into her bowl and held his hand. “Don’t be. I’m not going anywhere.”
“Not after learning I put cameras in the office just so I can watch you?”
“Even after that.”
“What about my plan?” he asked.
“I like your plan, a lot. You’ve loved me for a long time, haven’t you?”
“Yes. I was told that one day, if I was lucky, I would find a woman who drove me crazy and made me so happy it would hurt my face to even smile. I thought it was all a bunch of lies, but now I see it’s not lies, it’s the truth. You’re that woman, Sage, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”
He reached behind him, and she saw the pregnancy test in his hand.
“You went back and got it?”
“Actually, I picked this up a few days ago. I was doing the math and knew you were late. I … I want to have kids with you, Sage. I want to build a life with you.”
She put the bowl of soup down, climbed out of the bed, and kissed him. “I love you, Noah, and I want it all with you.” She held her hand out for the box.
“I’m coming with you.”
“You do know I have to pee on a stick.”
“Do I look like the kind of man who would get squeamish over that shit?” he asked.
She rolled her eyes, and Noah put his hands on her hips, following her into the bathroom. Noah had no choice but to close his eyes as she peed on the stick because she just couldn’t do it with him watching.
He muttered something about never understanding women, but he gave her the few minutes she needed to take the pregnancy test.
Once done, she put the test on the counter near the sink, washed her hands, and flushed the toilet, and then Noah took her hand. He moved in behind her, and she felt his arms wrap around her, holding her close.
“Do you know what you want?” she asked.
“Both. Boys. Girls. Twins. I don’t care just so long as they’re healthy.” He kissed her head.
“I’m so nervous,” she said.
“Don’t be.” He put his hands on her stomach and rubbed at her stomach as they both watched the results come in.
Sage didn’t understand the results, so she had to grab the box and turn it over, and there was their answer.
They were pregnant.
Noah turned her in his arms, tilting her head back and kissing her.
“We’re pregnant,” she said.
He lifted her onto the counter, and she wrapped her arms around him.
Noah was already pulling up her negligee. She giggled, and it quickly turned into a moan as he pressed his cock to her core. Slowly, he sank inside her, inch by inch, and Sage groaned, feeling him pulse within her.
“Marry me,” he said.
She cupped his face, staring into his dark brown eyes as she smiled. “Yes.”
“I don’t know what I fucking did to deserve you, Sage, but I make it my vow, my promise, and I will never, ever, let you go. I will love, protect, and cherish you, only you for the rest of my life.”
