There was still a lot that I didn’t know about that memory, but something told me that man was Sol’s father. Our family histories were intertwined in ways that we only halfway understood. From the beginning, even before we met, Sol and I were connected. No wonder I always felt so drawn to him.
Sol turned onto his side to face me, looking surprised by my memory.
“That does sound like him. Of course, he’d confront your father drunk and bleeding,” Sol scoffed, shaking his head. “All my life, he told me how terrible Quinns were. He acted like he was some saint.”
I smiled a little, reaching out to take his hand. It wasn’t his fault or my fault that our families were at odds with each other. What mattered was that we made our own decisions. We only had one life. We needed to live it our way and our way only.
“Well, I think you’re a good person,” I told him. He had the opportunity to wrong me, but he never did. He only cared for me in a way that made my heart flutter.
Sol’s face softened as he cupped my hand in his.
“I’m not perfect. Before I met you, I thought the Quinns were nothing more than a stain on my family’s history,” Sol admitted. “But you made me realize that your family isn’t a stain. Your family is important. You’re human, just like us.”
I sank into his dark eyes, finding myself getting lost in them. Sol was so honest with me. He didn’t hide things or try to trick me. He was a breath of fresh air that I wanted to keep breathing in.
“I want to work with you to uncover Stormcloud’s secrets, and I want to right my family’s legacy without all the bloodshed,” Sol said in a determined voice.
In many ways, I admired Sol. He knew what he wanted, and he fought for it. I wanted to be by his side, and I wanted to fix the broken institution that was supposed to educate us and help us grow.
“I’m right there with you. Every step of the way,” I promised him. I wouldn’t betray him, and I believed that he wouldn’t break my trust.
“I don’t think anyone deserves a girl like you, Biba Quinn,” Sol said with an admiring look on his face. When he looked at me like that, I swore I couldn’t properly breathe.
“In a good way, or a bad way?” I asked him. I didn’t understand most of the attention that I got, especially from the Kings. For some reason, they felt drawn to me, but I was drawn to them too. There was something about our connection, even if it was dark and twisted.
“I assure you, in the best way,” Sol replied gently.
We shared a smile before Sol turned me over and wrapped his arms around my stomach, pulling me back so that he could spoon me from behind. He rested his forehead against the back of my head, holding me in a protective manner. It didn’t take long for us to fall asleep together.
For the first time in a minute, I felt safe and protected. I didn’t feel like I had to fight for my life or look over my shoulder every second. Perhaps danger lurked outside of these walls, but I was okay in here.
Around midnight, I stirred slightly, blinking slowly as the haze of sleepiness still hovered over me. I could’ve fallen right back asleep, but I felt Sol’s hand stroke my stomach gently. Enjoying his touch, I placed my hand on his wrist, tracing lazy circles with my finger.
Sol pressed a soft kiss against the back of my neck, moving closer to me from behind. He pressed up against me, and I could feel his half-hard cock against the curve of my ass. He moved his hand up, grazing the underside of my breast.
I closed my eyes, taking in the heat that started to course throughout my body. I reached back and slipped my fingers in his hair, giving him the room to squeeze my breast through my bra.
With a breathy sigh, Sol unclasped my bra and slipped it off me before grasping my breast again. His thumb brushed circles around my hard nipple, his lips finding the back of my shoulder.
I tilted my head back, moaning gently at his touch. I pushed my hips back against him, his cock now fully hard.
“Sol…” I breathed out.
Sol caressed my other breast, rolling my nipple between his fingers. His touch was gentle, but it was firm as well. He was sure to touch me properly, to make sure I felt him.
“I fantasize about you. Kissing you. Fucking you. Making you come over and over again,” Sol murmured, brushing his lips over my neck.
A throbbing sensation pulsed between my thighs as I listened to him. I thought of him often as well. When we were together, everything felt so passionate, so intense. He worshipped me, and I gladly gave myself over to him.
