Chapter Fifteen
It was only the second night sleeping with her Daddy, but Zara felt at home, snuggled in his arms. Her bottom was warm and tingly. Her heart was still beating fast. Her mind was settling.
Her vision of making love several times in a row had been obliterated. She was too sated and relaxed to have sex again tonight, but she wanted to be sure he knew she was going to want to do that again as soon as she woke up.
“Did you set an alarm, Daddy?” she mumbled.
“No, Little Swan. There’s no need for you to get up early. You’re still behind on your sleep. I want you to rest and make your way downstairs to the basement refreshed. I don’t care if it’s ten in the morning. I’ll let Celeste know.”
She twisted her head around to look at him from her spooned position. He’d turned off all the lights, but being the amazing Daddy he was, he’d put a night light on next to the bathroom. So thoughtful.
The dim light was enough to see his face. “I wasn’t thinking of my work schedule, Daddy. I was thinking of yours. What time is your first appointment?”
He kissed her cheek. “Nine. Not too early.”
“Then set the alarm for eight please.” She settled back down in his embrace.
“Why would I do that, Little Swan? I’ll wake up in plenty of time to make a nine o’clock appointment.”
“Like you did today?” she teased. “You only had nine minutes to make it to the helipad.”
He gave her a squeeze, but he also tickled her under her breast. “Naughty girl. Today was an odd exception. It won’t happen again, I promise. You don’t have to worry about Daddy making it to work on time.”
She twisted again. “Daddy, I’m not worried about you making it to the helipad. I’m just saying nine minutes isn’t enough time for us to have sex before you leave, and I want to wake up to the feel of your hard erection pressing into me.”
He chuckled as he cupped her breast. “Is that a fantasy of yours, Little Swan?” He flicked her nipple.
She gasped and arched into his palm. “Yes. It happens in all the books and movies. The man wakes up first. He stares down at the heroine for a while, smiling, admiring her beauty, and thinking about how lucky he is, and then he pushes her leg forward and eases into her before she’s awake,” she declared. Duh, everyone knew that.
His laughter filled the room. “I don’t think real life is quite as glamorous.” His hand slid down from her breast to her sex while he used his knee to push her top leg up high. After lifting his hand around to stroke through her wet folds, he whispered into her ear. “Do you honestly think you could sleep through something like this and not wake up until I thrust into you?”
She shrugged, loving the feel of his lips on her ear. “So far, you’ve hit all the highlights in any romance novel, Daddy. I think you can do that one, too.”
He added a second finger and scissored them, stretching her and making her moan. “What if I just slide into you now and stay there all night? That way, I could just start moving in the morning to wake you up.”
“That’s a great idea,” she responded.
He removed his fingers and dragged her wetness up her tummy and over her nipple. “Little Swan, that’s not even realistic enough for a book. It couldn’t happen in real life.”
She pouted. “Hmph.”
He chuckled again. God, he loved her. She was both strong and independent while maintaining the most adorable innocence at the same time. “Sleep, Little Swan. I’ll be right here.” He stroked her hair and watched her as she fully relaxed and eventually fell into a deep sleep.
He stayed awake for a long time, just staring at her. It wasn’t her beauty that mesmerized him so much as the fact that she was his. She was here in his arms. He’d waited a lifetime to find his Little girl, and now he had her.
He tried not to think about the danger she was in and what challenges they might face, but it was impossible to ignore their problems. He truly didn’t like the number of random single men registered at this hotel. Was he being paranoid? He didn’t think so. How many single men went to a resort to vacation alone? There could be one or two, but not many more than that.
Kestrel was thinking ahead now. He needed to be sure his Little girl understood not to wander anywhere in the resort except the basement and the fifth floor, using only the designated elevator. That was the only way he knew to keep her safe.
They couldn’t live like this forever. She’d go stir-crazy. Even after only one day, he could see the effects in her eyes. She wasn’t the sort of woman who would endure being cooped up, no matter how large the space was.
