“Come on, town full of pretty women who are dying to know what it is like to fuck an outlaw biker,” Sway declared with a devilish smile. “We can’t disappoint them,” he added. “It is practically our civic duty,” he told me as I grabbed my prospect cut to follow him out.
The afternoon and early evening was a booze-soaked blur. We hopped around to different casinos since nothing nightlife-wise was going on for hours still.
From the looks of things, Slash and Crow had a hand with cards. Sway lost epically, but did it with an unconcerned smile, declaring that it was because he hadn’t found his lucky charm yet.
Which I thought was complete bullshit meant to make his ego feel better.
Until he found his first lucky charm of the night—a black-haired beauty in a red silk dress—who did nothing but stand at his side. As he won over and over and fucking over again.
He disappeared with her at one point, but reappeared just a couple hours later, looking freshly showered and ready to hit the clubs.
“What? You got a hot date?” Sway asked when Slash checked his phone for what seemed like the fifth time in the past half an hour.
He’d been oddly distracted the whole trip, actually. I’d been starting to worry that he was stressing about the drop, that maybe we all should have been focusing on that instead of getting drunk and looking for women.
Though, admittedly, I hadn’t been doing much of either. I’d had more than enough to drink in the early part of the evening. And none of the—completely gorgeous—women seemed to pique my interest.
I’d been trying to find a way out for the past hour, but Sway never seemed to get tired. And crow was off talking to the quiet friend in a group of loud, crazy ones that Sway was entertaining.
“I think I’m going to head out,” Slash declared. “You heading back too?” he asked, seeming to read in my face that I was done with the night. My gaze slid over toward Sway and Crow. “Got a whole weekend to party,” Slash said, shrugging. “Don’t gotta do it all one night.”
With that sage advice, we both said our goodbyes to the others and headed back to the hotel.
“I’m heading up in a bit,” he declared when I paused to find him not following me toward the elevators.
“Alright,” I said, shrugging, thinking nothing of it as he turned off in the direction of the hotel bar instead of going up to his room.
See, I didn’t put much faith to rest in the concept of fate.
Seemed a little far-fetched to me.
But for some reason, I hit the wrong floor button without realizing it.
And I even stepped off onto the wrong floor.
It was right that moment that all my preconceived ideas around fate flew away.
Because there she was.
Not a lookalike.
No.
The actual fucking woman.
The one who’d been plaguing my mind since the first night I got out of prison. The one who acted like she hadn’t even known who I was.
The last fucking woman in the world I had any business wanting.
She looked different, too.
At the bar, she just wore leggings or jeans and a tee with sneakers.
In Vegas?
She wore a dress that showed off most of her back and a teasing sliver between her breasts.
Her shiny hair was down, but styled in a more manicured, wavy way that made me want to run my fingers through it, mess it up.
The soft flare of her hips swayed as she made her way down the hall.
Away from me.
And all I could fucking think was that I couldn’t let her walk away, that I needed just one more taste of her. That if I got it, maybe I would get her out of my system once and for all.
Suddenly, I didn’t give a shit about her brothers, about the threats they gave me about staying away from her.
I didn’t even care about the repercussions if my own club found out that I’d fucked around and gotten in trouble with the goddamned Irish mafia.
I didn’t give a fuck.
I just needed her.
I needed her soft lips yielding to mine. I needed her sweet sighs as desire stoked in her body. I need her soft skin under mine. And I needed her tight pussy wrapped around my cock.
I didn’t give a damn what the consequences might be.
I just had to have her.
CHAPTER TEN
Delaney
A strangled cry caught in my throat as his lips crushed mine.
A mix of fear and shock and need all mingled together.
His hand didn’t loosen on the back of my neck, just stayed there, feeling like it was crushing my bones as his lips bruised into mine, as they demanded a response.
I gave it.
Without even thinking.
Without remembering that I was losing my slight upper hand with him by submitting.
Maybe I would have been able to keep up that charade if his lips hadn’t been on mine so quickly.
