Before you can say anything, he leans forward and sears his mouth to yours. The wet heat of his tongue delivers lusty, wild tremors through your body.
More shots boom.
Still, Kazimir devours you. He claims those lips.
One would think that danger wasn’t on the way. Clearly, Kazimir doesn’t care. You are his focus. You are the only thing that is on his mind.
And for several delicious seconds, all you concentrate on is those soft lips on your mouth, his hard body pressed against you, and the exploding passion within your heart.
You feel more alive than ever before. This is the man you have always dreamed of being with. You feel a sense of dream-like reality, which you never thought could exist and it lifts your heart and has your soul spinning.
But that feeling of bliss is short-lived.
Another shot rings out. The sound is closer this time. So is the sharp cry of some woman. And closer yet, is the heavy pounding of several pairs of boots.
Kazimir leans away from you. “Always stay close to me.”
Though disoriented, you keep the gun at your side and hurry behind him.
Your heart pumps with fear, but you know you’re with the Lion.
Although danger is here, he will keep you safe.
You both lower onto the ground and duck behind the bed. Where moments ago the bed was a place where Kazimir utterly consumed you, now it is the only barrier between both of you and the Scorpion.
Outside in the hallway, chaos erupts.
Gunfire booms.
A man cries out in pain. A hollow thud sounds next as if a heavy weight dropped to the floor.
Footsteps pound towards the room.
The loud clatter of bullets echo through the hallway, drowning out cursing and panicked screaming.
Shivers run through you.
And then the shooting is right outside the door.
Boom. Boom.
Someone is slamming against the door, doing his best to break through. The hinges rattle. The nails loosen from the structure.
“Yeah.” Kazimir sneers. “That’s right. Come right to me.”
Boom. Boom.
You duck down, but peek your eyes over the bed.
Kazimir keeps his head and body low too, but his hand lays on the bed.
The door cracks on the side.
“Come on, little Scorpion.” He grabs the rocket launcher and aims at the door. “I have the perfect black suit for your funeral.”
The door crashes open.
Five huge men storm through with their guns pointing forward.
“Welcome!” Kazimir pulls the rocket launcher’s trigger.
Two of the men in front scream and bump into the others as they try to race away.
But, there’s no possibility of escape.
A large rocket zips their way at an overwhelming speed. Light flashes. The men explode and the floor vibrates from the impact. Flames appear where their heads were. The scorched remains of their bodies land on the other side of the room.
Your mouth drops open.
Smoke fills the air.
Instead of more men coming in, you can hear many racing away.
“Oh no you don’t!” Kazimir jumps up with the rocket launcher and leaps onto the bed. “We end this tonight!”
He sprints in that direction and turns the corner.
Your heart hammers in your chest. You can feel your blood surging through your veins.
And all you can think of is him possibly getting harmed.
You’re not a part of his Russian Brotherhood. You have no gangster blood in your body. You’re not even trained to shoot at this level.
But, you have completely fallen in love with this man, and you want to help.
Rising fast, you grip your gun hard, grab another, and race after him.
When you hit the hallway, he’s three feet ahead of you.
Even further ahead, tons of men are rushing away.
You spot the Scorpion within the group of fleeing men.
Fast, Kazimir stops in the center of the hallway, points the rocket launcher at them, and fires another rocket.
It zips off.
The Scorpion drops to the floor. Some of his men follow. The ones that didn’t explode. Smoke thickens inside the small space. The hallway fills with the smell of burning flesh.
You rush up to Kazimir.
He turns your way and smiles. “Novoluniye, you came to play with me.”
Before you can answer, you spot the Scorpion from your peripheral vision. He’s raising his gun in the air.
Without another thought, you turn his way in a blur and fire both guns.
The bullets fly toward the Scorpion, piercing his chest. The hand holding the gun, drops to his side. The weapon falls from his fingers and rolls onto the ground.
You keep shooting.
The Scorpion’s mouth opens, but he doesn’t cry out or scream. Blood spills from his lips.
You still fire.
A bullet nicks his forehead and runs a line of blood along the edge of his face.
“You got him before me.” A dark chuckle leaves Kazimir. “Good job, Novoluniye.”
Horror covers the few survivors before you. They try to rush away.
“No. No.” Kazimir points the rocket launcher their way and fires.
The rocket throws one guy up against the wall and blows the rest to bits. The man that hit the wall, crashes down to the floor. Shaking, he tries to crawl away, but you’re done with this entire situation.
