“Okay, but how’s it goin’?”

He shrugs. “Fine.”

Fine.

Not good, not great—fine.

Lame.

“She’s not your type.”

Again, my twin shrugs. “I don’t have a type.”

The hell he doesn’t. Everyone does whether they think they do or not. My type is blonde, big tits, easy to laugh, carefree, and doesn’t want to settle down.

Simple.

Likes sex.

It’s not easy finding a girl who fits that description, and if it weren’t for Shannon next door I wouldn’t be getting laid nearly as much. Everyone wants to be in a relationship it seems, including my mirror image.

“Sure you have a type. You like cute, smart chicks.”

“Marcy is cute and smart.”

“Marcy.” I scrunch up my nose. “Is that her name?” Shit, even that’s nerdy, and I will not allow my twin brother to date a nerd, no matter how nice she is.

“Don’t be an asshole.”

Can’t help it. “She ain’t your type.” I block him from walking out the door. “Yes, you like smart, cute chicks, but you also want someone with a bit of an attitude—like Posey and Ryann.”

“Posey and Ryann don’t have attitudes.”

Pfft.

“Bullshit, they’re both feisty in their own way or they wouldn’t be able to tolerate Duke’s and Dallas’s bullshit.”

“You just said bullshit twice. You’re running out of nouns. Can I go now?” He sighs against the door.

“Go out there and pay the check. Let’s get the hell out of here. There’s a new season of Lion’s Gate that premiered tonight.”

“I’m not bailin' on Marcy.”

He’s right. That would be sorta rude. “Well, hurry up then. I’ll wait.”

His hands go up as he grabs the door handle. “Don’t you dare wait. Get the fuck out of here. You’re such a pain in the ass.”

It’s on the tip of my tongue to mention I gave up a free blow job to be here, but the words stay in my throat.

Drew sighs loudly. “What’s it gonna take to get you to leave?”

“Dunno. I’m bored at home. Ryann is visiting Dallas this weekend.”

Dallas was drafted to a team in Washington—opposites sides of the country and the team that almost beat Texas in the playoffs, which is the team our other brother plays football for.

Confused yet?

Yeah, me too.

“I still have to finish my burger.”

My hands go up. “You shouldn’t have ordered food on the first date in the first place. Everyone knows that.” Save that shit for date two, duh. Or the third. Food is basically the kiss of death—backing oneself into a corner, if you will.

“Drake, stop.” Drew sidesteps around me, his wide powerful shoulders bumping me the same way a guy does when he’s posturing in a bar.

“For what it’s worth, she is not the girl for you,” I say to his back as he pulls open the restroom door.

Drew pauses. “How do you know?”

I shrug. “I just know. Call it intuition.” Twintuition, to be exact. He and I both know he’s not into this chick and he’s wasting his time. Sure, he’s getting a meal out of it, but why bother with her when he could be bothering with me?

I’m a fun time.

Ask anyone.

“Don’t fuck around too long.” I smack him on the ass when he goes through the door. “And don’t forget, I’m going to your Mass Comm class tonight so you can work on your midterm presentation.”

Drew nods, his shaggy hair flopping in his eyes. Dude needs a bang trim. Lucky for him, I’m semi-decent with a pair of shears and can clean that shit right up for him.

“I haven’t forgotten. That fucking presentation is the only thing I can think about.”

“Well, you’re lucky it’s off-season, or you’d be fucked for taking a class like that in the first place.”

His academic adviser never should have signed off on a class like that, with so many requirements and so much studying—not to brag, but athletes usually don’t have to take such strenuous classes unless they’re wannabe scientists or some shit, which the vast majority are not.

Business. Accounting. Marketing.

The usual.

Not pre-law.

The class he has tonight is a no-brainer, and all I have to do is take the quiz the professor always gives them at the beginning of class. Occasionally, he gives a second right after the break ’coz he’s that big of a prick.

My last date was so bad, I paid the server ten bucks to spill a drink in my lap so I could get out of there.

Things I’m looking for in a guy:

A good sense of humor

Someone tall

Someone who enjoys going out but also likes to stay home and snuggle on the couch

Kindness

Compassion

Goal oriented

I stare at the list I made—the one I’m going to use to help me write my dating profile, and wrinkle my nose. Kindness? Compassion? Do those things exist in a college guy, and furthermore, is it cheesy to put that on a dating app? Although, won’t the guy who’s a good match for me not think it’s cheesy I’m putting that on my dating app bio?
