“Thanks, Pop,” Garth says.
I move over to Summer and pull her into my arms. Kissing her neck, I tell her how fucking beautiful she looks.
“Ugh, they’re kissing again,” Tyra says.
“We’ve told you that you’ve got to look away before he drags her off like a caveman,” Stig says, laughing.
“You’ll all understand someday,” I tell them. They know about the legend. They are skeptical as hell right now, but that’s just because they haven’t met the other half of their souls yet. They will though.
“See you all in the morning. Tyra, no sugar after eleven, but you can stay up as late as you want to.”
“Thanks, Mama. Have so much fun. Take pictures.”
“I will, sweetling,” she says and we’re out the door.
“We have really amazing kids,” she says as I help her into the car.
“That’s because they have an amazing mother. Dr. Jorgensen,” I say. I’m still impressed that she managed to go to night school and earn her PhD in Marine Sciences while juggling her career and six kids, but she did it. She’s fucking amazing.
“Do we really have to go to this thing?”
“You know we do. We’re on the board.”
“I know, but I was hoping to sneak off so we can have loud sex. Don’t you miss being loud?”
“I do, but you do know that the event is in the ballroom at the Hilton. I may or may not have already gotten us a room for just that purpose.”
“I knew I loved you for a reason.”
“I love you too,” I say, grabbing her hand and bringing it to my lips to kiss as I pull into the hotel parking lot.
We’re still just as hot and heavy as we were twenty years ago. We always will be. I’m going to love this woman, my wife, my sjelevenn more each day until my last. That’s all there is to it.
