“You know that I adore the gold band you gave me when we were at City Hall,” I whisper in his ear. “You didn’t have to get me this.”
“Yes, but I wanted to,” he murmurs in return. “Because I love you, sweetheart, and want you to have an engagement ring in addition to a wedding band.”
My heart melts as I gaze into his blazing blue eyes.
“Then thank you,” I whisper. “I love you, Mr. Quinn.” He smiles too, planting another soft kiss onto my lips.
“I love you too, Mrs. Quinn. Forever.”
With those words, our lips join because he’s not just the man of the house anymore. I’m the woman of the house, and with our daughters, we’re a family. We’ll have a hair-raising tale to relay to our daughters once they’re old enough to understand, but that’s our job as parents: to teach that love doesn’t come in one color, flavor or shape. Instead, love hits you unexpectedly but when it’s the right man, then anything is possible.
