Sighing in exasperation he stalked out of the room to the elevator and punched in the code. He made sure that she’d gotten on before he headed to the shower. Seamus pretended that he didn’t see that hurt and confusion in her eyes.
Once he was in the shower with the water beating down on his skin, he slammed his fist against the wall. Last night hadn’t gone as planned. He thought that once he had Tamryn then he would be done with her, but he found that it wasn’t enough. He still wanted her and he feared that she would fast become an obsession if he wasn’t careful.
A steady buzzing made a continuous sound, but every time she hit the top of her alarm clock at the side of her bed it wouldn’t stop. As she sat up, she released a yawn and stretched her arms. Once she’d gained her bearings, she realized that it wasn’t her alarm clock, but her door bell. She checked out the time to see that it was nearly five in the afternoon.
With a groan, she rolled out of bed and grabbed a robe to cover her nudity. An impatient Julie was on the other side of the door. The blonde pushed her way into Tam’s apartment.
“You have no idea about the shit storm you caused last night.”
Tam placed her hand against her chest. “Me? What did I do?”
“It’s not what you’ve done per se, but you have to know the other hostesses are going to talk when the club’s biggest patron breaks another man’s nose over the new girl.”
Tam yawned, still trying to shake off the sleep that she’d been denied. After Seamus had abruptly dismissed her, it was nearly noon. Once she’d showered, Tam thought that she’d have no problem falling asleep but instead she’d lay awake in bed, thinking of how insatiable Seamus had been and all the wicked things he’d done to her body. Every time she closed her eyes on the verge of dozing off, he was there, making her hot and ready for him over and over and over again. Tam didn’t know how he’d earned the Irish Demon moniker but he was certainly one in bed.
Her body still ached from the prior night’s activity. A shiver ran down her spine as she thought about it. As first nights went, it wasn’t nearly as bad as she thought it would be. But for every good, there was a bad. Being so callously dismissed after a night of sexual calisthenics was a brutal reminder of what she really was: a high-end prostitute. She’s spent the latter years of her life trying to avoid such a fate while she was living on the streets. The fact that she was now wearing designer clothing and the men who frequented this establishment were powerful men didn’t make any difference. But Tam had to be practical about the situation. Maybe Seamus had done her a favor because he showed her that what they’d shared was no more than a transaction and that was how she’d go forward with the rest of her clients. As long as she kept her eyes on the prize, she’d be out of here soon enough.
Tam shrugged with a nonchalance that she didn’t quite feel. “I did nothing to encourage him. You were there. I was talking to Jason when Seamus pulled me out of my seat. And as you pointed out, it’s not like I had much choice seeing as he’s the biggest patron. I mean he must be a big shot since he has his own apartment and I’m not talking about the private rooms beneath ours.”
Julie’s eyes widened to the size of saucers. “He took you up there?”
“Yes, what’s the big deal?”
“No one has been up there. He usually takes whatever girl he chooses for the night to one of the rooms. No one has seen the inside of his apartment except Natalia and the cleaning staff.”
Tam couldn’t help but wonder what made her so different that he’d break protocol. “But that doesn’t make sense. Hasn’t he utilized the services of the other hostesses?”
“Often, but like I said, no one has been up here. It’s no secret that he and Natalia are friends. A lot of the girls have even speculated that he provided the funding to start this place which is why he has his own special section of the building, although Natalia handles the operation end of things. It’s never been confirmed or denied but it makes sense. Some other girls speculate that he and Natalia are actually a couple with an open relationship but I don’t think that’s the case. He’s clearly not into her.”
Tam couldn’t concern herself with Seamus’s private life. It was just sex anyway and when she worked again, there would be someone else and he’d probably move on to someone else. But as that thought crossed her mind, she felt a twinge in her heart. “You’re telling me this like I should be concerned.”
