Felicity swallows hard and adjusts herself again, the movement making her groan in pain. “Fuck,” she says, gasping for breath, her panicked stare coming back to mine. “I think it’s time.”
My eyes widen in horror. “Shit, are you sure?”
She nods, her head bouncing with erratic movements. “What … what do I do?”
I shake my head, having no fucking clue. “I … I don’t know,” I panic. “Can you feel its head?”
I swallow hard, watching as she adjusts herself again, making space to move around as she reaches down between her legs. “Oh, fuck,” she cries, whimpering in fear as her eyes come back to mine. “I can feel him.”
“Then I think it’s time to push.”
Ariana’s irritated groan tears through the underground dungeon and I try shaking the bars again, wanting nothing more than to tear them right out of the concrete and throw them at her caveman style. Perhaps one might fly right through that big mouth of hers and shut her up for good.
Seeing the overwhelming fear and panic in Felicity’s eyes, I quickly realize there’s no way in hell she’s about to do this by herself and that baby is going to be the one to suffer the consequences. Besides, if Roman knew I was just standing here watching the train wreck while both Felicity and his baby were in trouble, he’d kill me himself, and this time, he won’t be fucking around.
My whole body shakes and the need to get over there fires through me, but I’m fucking trapped and Felicity is looking at me with those big blue eyes, begging to make the pain go away. “HEY,” I scream out, having no idea what the fuck I’m doing. “HELP. WE NEED HELP DOWN HERE.”
Ariana flies to her feet, her hands clutching at the bars. “The fuck do you think you’re doing?” she hisses, her eyes wide with fear, barely able to keep herself up. “Don’t bring them down here. Are you insane?”
“Got any better ideas?” I fire back at her.
Ariana scoffs and it makes me want to tear out her throat. “The bitch got herself into this situation, she can get herself out.”
“Fucking hell,” I mutter under my breath. “I swear to God, if I ever get out of here, I’m going to fuck you up in the worst kind of way and I’ll fucking enjoy it.”
“Ooooh,” she teases. “You spent three seconds with those brothers and all of a sudden you think you’re tough. Go ahead, try me. There’s no way you’re getting out of that cell. We’re doomed to rot, and it’s all your fucking fault.”
I scoff. “You’re the unfaithful one here, not me,” I remind her as my eyes remain locked on the spiral staircase, willing it to open. “HEY,” I scream again. “GET YOUR MOTHERFUCKING SHRIMP DICK DOWN HERE SO I CAN BEAT THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF YOUR DUMBASS, YOU BIG TURD SNIFFING, WAFFLE STANKIN’, LAZY FAT CUNT.”
Felicity’s scream tears through the basement, echoing through the room and making me flinch as Ariana laughs. “You’re fucking asking for it, you stupid bitch.”
The old wooden door at the top of the stairs opens with a bang and I look back at Ariana with a smirk. “Watch and see how it’s done,” I tell her. “But just so we’re clear, I’m getting out of here and I’m taking her with me, but you, you’re going to rot down here until you’re nothing but a pile of bones for the rats to chew on.”
The guard who’d dragged me out of Giovanni’s trunk with a bruising grip is at the top of the stairs. His hard glare is locked on me as he descends, clearly knowing that the string of insults didn’t come from anybody else. The old, rusty stairs shake under his weight, and just as he hits the bottom and comes for me, Felicity’s murderous screams tear through the basement.
The guard whips around and gets a front-row seat of the alien baby forcing its head through its mother’s bits like some kind of horror show. Blood is everywhere and he fumbles back a step, way out of his league, but that small fumble is all I need.
Reaching through the bars, I grip onto the back of his shirt and use his momentum against him, yanking him back toward me with everything that I’ve got. He falls back and slams his head against the metal bars with a loud BANG and I watch with wide eyes as he drops to the ground with a heavy thud.
“Fuck,” I breathe, staring down at him. I hadn’t expected that to work, but shit, he won’t be out for long.
Not wasting a second, I drop to my knees and reach between the bars, feeling around his clammy body until my fingers curl around the keys. Relief pours through me and I scurry across my cell, my hands shaking as I hastily try to unlock it.
