The entire meal is silent and filled with him complaining about this person, that person. Work. What my mom doesn’t do right and of course, how much of a disappointment I am. By the time it is over, I am drained, depleted, and feeling worse about myself than I have in a long time. The best part about this entire night is going home to my precious babies. They love me no matter what.
The Uber ride is quiet and I am so thankful for that. It is giving me time to simply just… be.The low hum of the car, permeates my mind and I can’t help thinking of Noah. Mr. Bossy Pants. I say that, but the truth is, I love how hot he is when is ordering me around. “Come, precious girl. Bend over and show me that sweet pussy. Open your mouth and swallow all of me.” See. Crap. Now I am all wet. Oh shoot. Do you think it is going to show on the seats when I get out?
Its more than the sex, though. He is protective and sweet. Intuitive and truthful. More than that, he seems to like me for me. He is not only bossy in bed. “Stop fidgeting, precious. You are perfect. Smile. You're gorgeous when you smile. Don’t frown. It drives me crazy and makes me want to give you anything.” See why I am falling for him? I wonder what he is doing right now.
“Safe and sound,” the driver says breaking through my Noah fog.
“Oh gosh. Thank you so much. Here is a tip.” Hand him a twenty and then get out. I am so busy looking down trying to find my keys, that I don’t notice Noah until I bump into him.
“Precious look up and pay attention.” Shoot. Why is it when he orders me to do something, I want to snap to attention and do it?
“Noah! What are you doing here?” I sound casual and unfazed, but really I want to wrap my arms around his neck and thank him for being here. I didn’t want to be alone tonight after that dinner.
“I haven’t heard from you all day, baby. I missed you.” Aww. I would never have expected a man like him to admit something like that. “Now where have you been and tell me what’s wrong.” Dang it.
“I was just at dinner with my parents. Nothing is wrong now that you are here.” I lay my head on his chest and breath in his woodsy and peppermint scent.
“Nice deflection, precious. I am only letting you get away with it because I need you. Come home with me tonight.” Shoot. Shoot. Shoot. The past few encounters we have had have besides the first one in his apartment, has been once again in his office and once in the back of his town car, coming back from the movies. I haven’t had to explain my..situation but now I don’t have a choice.
“Umm, I can’t go home with you, Noah.” His face goes from shocked to pissed in less than a millisecond.
“Why the hell not?”
“I can’t leave my dogs overnight alone.” I shrug my shoulders, feeling a little ridiculous right now.
“Dogs? As in plural?” Here we go. Now he is going to see who I really am.
“Yes. As in four.” His jaw drops.
“You have four dogs? In a condo?” I nod my head, imagining the thoughts going through his mind. His finger lifts my chin and kisses me softly. “I would love to meet them.”
“Really!” He is not running away. Oh my gosh. He chuckles and wraps his arms around my waist.
“Really, beautiful. Take me to meet your babies.” The fact that he called them my babies, makes me love him more.
“Well, you could stay with me tonight. Maybe help me decorate my tree.”
“I would love to, baby. Lead the way,” he says.
Smiling, I make it to my front door and open it, not thinking this is the first time I am bringing someone male home to meet my fur babies. But the minute the door opens, Prancer is alert and not in a good mood. Shoot. I look back at Noah and he barely looks fazed. “I’m sorry. He is not used to people being here. Especially men.”
“That’s great to know. So who would this be?” He asks, watching as I hold Prancer by his collar trying to keep him calm.
“This is the oldest and our fierce protector, Prancer.”
“Well, hello there, Prancer. Nice to meet you.” Noah says, holding his hand out so he can be sniffed. The other three are kind of hanging back, waiting for Prancer’s approval. He sniffs him and then looks at me as if he is telling me I can let him go. I look up at Noah who also nods his head so I release Prancer. I watch, a bit nervous, watching like an anxious mom, while my baby circles the new guy, sizing him up. When Noah gets on his knees and Prancer goes up to him and licks him once on the cheek and walks away, I breathe a sigh of relief.
