“This okay? I’m not hurting you, am I?”
Her warm softness melted into him, immediately taking away much of his pain.
“This is fucking perfect.”
“What are you watching?”
“I’m not even sure. You can change it if you want.”
“Nah. Whatever is fine.”
They fell quiet for a few moments watching what appeared to be a holiday movie in comfortable silence.
“Hey, Frost?” she asked after a bit.
“Yeah, hon?”
“Can you tell me what happened tonight? I mean, I get if you can’t. Never mind, I’m just being nosy.”
“Nah, it’s fine.” When it came to sharing information with their ol’ ladies, this club was pretty liberal. Liv and Brooke and now Jo knew most of what went on. They didn’t know everything, but much more than he’d assumed. Not that Rachel was his ol’ lady or anything close to that, but as family, Curly would be fine with her knowing the details of what went down. Especially since she’d been the getaway driver, which had been sexy as all hell.
He fingered a curl from her ponytail as he exhaled. “Curly got a call saying there were a group of bikers from out of town at that bar. He asked me to check it out and see if they were a potential problem.”
“Why would it matter?”
“They were wearing colors.”
“Huh?”
He chuckled. “Sorry, forgot you’re new to all this. It’s sorta… let’s call it outlaw code. When you’re in another one percenter’s territory, you don’t wear shit displaying your club’s colors. Basically, you don’t advertise your own club when in another’s territory. It’s kind of a muscle flex. It’s seen as a little threatening to do so.”
“Oh, okay, that makes sense.”
He nodded as the silky softness of her hair slid through his fingers. He couldn’t help but wonder what it would feel like coasting over his dick right before she took him to the back of her throat.
The thought had him groaning.
She tensed. “Am I hurting you?”
“You have no idea.”
“I’ll move.” She tried to pull away, but he held her close. “Frost, if this is too much, let me move off you.”
“You misunderstand.” He shifted in a weak attempt to relieve pressure in his dick.
“What do you… oh.” Her soft exhale did nothing to deflate the hard-as-stone erection he was sporting. “I see you have a bit of a problem.”
“A bit?” he said with mock irritation as he gave her ponytail a tug.
Rachel laughed. “Sorry. Let me rephrase… you seem to have a massive problem.”
“That’s better. And yes, I do. And it’s your fault.”
She giggled, a truly happy sound. “Finish your story.”
He groaned. “Fine. I went to the bar to check it all out. There were four of them, and they did not give two shits about breaking code. In fact, they were all about getting Curly’s attention. They wanted to fuck with the prez who’d been wrongfully imprisoned.”
“Dicks,” she muttered.
He grinned. This little kitty cat had claws under her timid exterior. “Exactly.”
“So what happened? You decided taking on four men by yourself would be a good way to teach them a lesson?”
That had him letting out a loud belly laugh that had breath-stealing pain shooting through his side. “Oh fuck. Don’t make me laugh.”
“Sorry.”
“Anyway…” he tugged her pony again, “… I gave them a warning, and as I was leaving, the motherfucker who shot at us jumped me from behind. I managed to get away long enough to press Spec’s contact in my phone then it was on. Four-on-one. I think I held my own pretty damn well.”
In truth, he’d been certain he’d end up in a fucking coma. The guy had a fist like a concrete block. The only thing that saved him was the luck of both Spec and Curly being extremely close by. Within three minutes, they were busting through the door and saving his sorry ass.
“Does this kind of thing happen a lot?” She ran her hand over the frayed knee of his jeans.
“What? Me getting my ass kicked?”
“No. Violence in general.”
He rested his chin on her head. “Look, Rach, there’s something you need to know about your brother and all the guys in the club. They’re damn good men. Loyal, fair, they love fiercely, and there’s no one better to have at your back. They’ve all been through their own version of hell, women included. Most of them, most of us, don’t fit into society’s normal polite way of living. Some of us don’t want to, and some of us can’t anymore.”
She remained still except for her finger playing with his jeans.
“Do we color within the lines of the law? Not always.” He chuckled. “Maybe not often is a better answer. But we are not malicious. We do not set out with the intent to harm anyone. And we don’t seek trouble. That being said, we will not back down from a fight, and we’ll protect what’s ours at all costs. We have enemies, Rach. Your brother has enemies. So sometimes we have… issues like we had tonight.”
