I’d been rock hard for a long time. I gingerly reached down, pushing at the elastic waistband of my shorts, giving way for my cock. A clatter sounded out on the hardwood floor.

“All good?” Charlie asked, glancing down.

“Just my phone. Let it break, for all I care.”

Charlie hummed. “Start sucking my dick and you turn into a little badass rebel, don’t you?”

“You’re the badass,” I clarified, shoving my shorts down even further, gently palming my erection. “Goddamn.”

“Touch yourself,” he said when he noticed what I was doing. “Fuck yes. God, you’re that hard from this?”

Fire ripped through me. “Fuck my mouth,” I said, surprised by my own command. “I’m not coming until you do.”

Charlie’s eyelids fluttered shut for a moment. “You are filthy, and you are perfect.”

I’d heard about the concept of having a “praise kink” before, but I sure as hell had never identified with it until now. When Charlie praised me, even in the smallest ways, it stoked heat inside me that never really died down. But being close with him like this and hearing him tell me I was perfect… I didn’t care how unrealistic it was, or how silly the idea of “perfection” was—in that moment, it was the hottest goddamn thing I’d ever heard.

When I got back on his cock a moment later I started stroking my own at the same time. Charlie started slowly, bucking upward in a gentle rhythm into my mouth. He cursed under his breath, and his thrusts started to get a little faster. He was starting to trust that he could fuck my mouth in earnest.

“I’m close,” he whispered.

As he thrust against my tongue, I stroked myself, barely needing any more encouragement to get there.

Charlie moaned deeply. “Fucking perfect,” he whispered.

My new favorite thing to hear had even more power over me when my fist was around my cock. The moment I heard him say it in that broken, breathy voice, it sent me over the edge. I came hard and fast, knowing I was making a big goddamn mess all over my hand and his office floor. And my brain was totally fucking gone.

I moaned around his dick and apparently he liked the feeling of the vibration, because he tensed up a moment later and I knew he was losing control, too.

His grip tightened in my hair as he came. Both of his hands came down to cradle my face. The hardwood against my knees stung like a bitch but I didn’t care at all about that, or about the sloppy wetness on my chin, or about the mess I’d made.

My heart was pounding like I’d just jumped off of a cliff. I dragged the back of my hand across my lips and a split second later Charlie was bending over, still cradling my face as he pushed his lips to mine.

I knew Charlie didn’t want to date anyone right now.

I knew he was hell-bent on being single right now, and closing off his heart, and that our whole thing was just for TV.

But I swore, in that moment, that I was made to be with him. He would call me young and silly and idealistic if I admitted any of it to him, and my thoughts seared in my mind, unspoken. Charlie had been burned by relationships, and I’d never really had many serious relationships. Of course he was more jaded than I was.

But if all of this could have been real, I knew now, without a doubt, that I would say yes.

In a fucking heartbeat.

“Can I tell you a secret?” Charlie said a few moment later, his lips still close to mine after our kiss. His voice was still in that sexy lower register that I was completely addicted to.

“Please.”

“I don’t actually hate you,” he said, his eyes dancing over my face.

I loved him up close like this, where I could see the flecks in his eyes, all of his individual lashes, and the tiny, barely-there freckle on his left cheek.

“Duh,” I said. “We both know we don’t hate each other.”

“But I really don’t hate you,” he said. “I appreciate everything that you do, more than I’ll ever be able to express. There’s no one like you, but I’m just not all that great with words, or expressing affection, these days, and… and I’m already fucking regretting everything I’m saying right now, so I’m just going to stop.”

I puffed out a laugh, resting my hand on his still-naked thigh. “I get it. And you know I don’t hate you, either. Fuckface.”

This made him laugh, a true, relaxed, almost relieved sounding genuine laugh. He stood up, reaching out a hand to help me stand up, too.

“Come on. Let’s clean up. I’m sure someone is going to barge in this door any minute now.”

I stood up and after we’d cleaned up, I picked up my phone from where it had clattered to the floor. I glanced quickly at the screen and adrenaline suddenly hit me like a truck.
