“You’re overthinking,” Helene said, patting Robert’s arm. He’d gone silent, lost in thought as the others left the room, and she saw right through him. The knowing look on Landon’s face said he saw it too.
“You’re right, and we have a surrogate to meet,” Robert said instead of voicing all the self-disparaging thoughts he’d been thinking.
“I’ll keep working on his self-confidence,” Landon assured Helene as if those two were having a separate conversation right in front of him.
“He’s going to see he had nothing to worry about,” she said and started to turn away. “Be here at five in the morning. We’ll do another run-through. You’ll be ready.”
Robert nodded, unreasonably relieved at the idea.
“We’ll find our groove, and it’ll be great.”
When the door shut behind Helene, Landon came forward, taking him in his arms. “I missed you.”
Any lingering doubts or thoughts outside of Landon vanished. He moved in, wrapping his arms around his husband. Landon was such a masculine man; his brawn increasing in size every time Robert saw him. He took in Landon’s strong jaw, chiseled cheekbones, and smooth olive complexion. Landon was so beautiful, inside and out.
When Landon lifted his lips, a move Robert loved, he obliged with a kiss, sweeping his tongue deep into Landon’s inviting mouth. More than anything, he wanted to be back in the penthouse, spending alone time with his husband. He breathed Landon in then once again claimed his sweet mouth.
The work/life balance Robert had created was designed with heavy work in mind to get him through the long, lonely times without Landon. Times that were getting longer and lonelier by the day. God, he missed this man. Their busy schedules now bled into their few spare hours of alone time. Between La Bella Luna’s weekend rush and the web series, they had so little time to themselves. Now, what precious time did exist was being split to interview surrogates.
If they didn’t leave now, they’d be late for their meeting with the third woman willing to help them have their children. Robert placed his palms on Landon’s cheeks, holding him there as he dominated the moment, swiping his tongue deeply into Landon’s mouth before pulling away. He watched Landon follow, wanting more as he ended the kiss, his husband’s eyelids still closed.
“You’re my world, Landon. I miss you so much.”
“Then keep kissing me,” Landon whispered, refusing to open his eyes. Robert grinned and forced himself away. Landon clutched at him to keep him there, grinding that heavy, thick cock into his.
He fought against his urge to give in to Landon’s request. “We’ll be late if we don’t leave now. I should’ve picked you up and gone straight to meet her,” he said and forced himself to pull away before his hard-on burst through his pants. He wanted nothing more than to get inside of Landon and lose himself in his husband’s body, but time had slipped by on them. Robert went to the table, closing his portfolio and shoving it under his arm to free his hands to fix the hard-on in his slacks.
“After we’re done, I want to go home so you can fuck me into the mattress,” Landon growled in his deep sexy voice.
“We can’t. I’ve got your suit here. We’ve got to come back and prepare for the mayor’s election party. He’s rented the whole place, remember?” A first for La Bella Luna. The press would be on hand, and the mayor planned to give his acceptance speech in this very room.
“Oh hell, I forgot.” Landon dropped his hand to his tight jeans, pushing against his erection, trying to control the bulge Robert wished he had time to take care of himself. “Are we ready for everyone? Did I do everything you asked?”
Robert started for the door and Landon followed. Once outside, he locked the bolt and trotted down the stairwell.
“I believe you did. You always take care of everything. I never double check your work.” When Landon didn’t respond, it made Robert second-guess the decision, so he began asking questions. “You placed the food order—I saw the truck arriving earlier. No one’s freaked out that they’re missing something so that has to be right. Did you schedule the rental chairs and tables? The linens arrived earlier so I’m guessing you did. What about the flowers?”
“The mayor’s team’s handling the flowers,” Landon said, stepping out under the porte cochere at the entrance of the restaurant. As if they had been called, the rental company’s truck drove into the parking lot. They went for Robert’s sports car, Landon dropping inside the passenger’s side. “I believe the flowers are arriving at three.”
“Good job,” Robert said and pushed the button to start the car.
“I’d rather you show your appreciation by fucking me into the mattress tonight.” Landon looked over at him with a sly look. “Like manhandling me until you get your way.”
