Booth pressed a final kiss to my forehead.

“You done for the day?” He asked.

I shook my head. “No. I still have about a half hour. Why?”

“I’m hungry,” his belly chose that moment to growl before he walked to the back of the ambulance and shut the door.

I didn’t bother to point out that he’d just had to deal with blood and guts.

He didn’t need me to remind him.

Paramedics, though, were a different breed.

They smiled while most would cry.

They joked while most would stay silent.

And if he was hungry, it was probably because he was hungry and not deflecting like most would.

“And you’re telling me this, why?” I asked.

I knew why.

He wanted me to bring him something, and he was too lazy to go get it.

“’Cause your food is better than my food,” he turned around once the doors were shut.

I rolled my eyes at him.

“I can’t bring you anything until I’m done here,” I pointed out.

He nodded his head eagerly.

“Taco Bell,” he said.

I raised my brow at him.

“You really want to eat that at work?” I asked.

I mean, Taco Bell had the same effect on nearly everyone. It wasn’t called Taco Hell for no reason.

He shrugged. “Yes.”

I looked at him, studying his face, and saw that something more than just the last call was bothering him.

But I didn’t know what to say to him.

He wouldn’t tell me what was wrong. Not with PD still waiting at the side of the ambulance anyway.

“I’ll bring it to you,” I told him softly.

He smiled then, making my heart skip a few beats.

“Thank you, baby.”

I waved at him and started walking back to the clinic as they pulled away.

He did, however, stop when he saw his truck.

“You ran through a mud hole!” He yelled out the side of the window.

I feigned innocence, widening my eyes at him. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

He narrowed his eyes at me.

“You better clean up your act, girl!” He yelled.

I raised my hands at him.

“And what are you going to do about it, big boy?” I teased.

He rolled up his window without replying, but I saw the gleam of happiness in his eyes before he did.

And I went back to work smiling.

I pulled into the fire station’s parking lot three hours and thirty minutes later with Taco Hell in one hand, and a huge gallon of sweet tea from Chick Fil A in the other, and the card from the camera pointed at my parent’s mailbox in my pocket.

He’d asked me to pick it up on my way, and like the pushover that I was, I did what he asked, even though it was about twenty minutes out of my way.

I pushed through the door to the station, my belly flipping and flopping in nervousness, and immediately was assaulted by the smell of cooking food.

Why Booth would want tacos instead of the deliciousness I was smelling was beyond me, but whatever.

“Yo,” a man called out, startling me.

I turned in the direction of the voice I’d just heard, and smiled.

“Hey, Bowe.” I said, waving at him with the bag of tacos in my hand.

He grinned.

“Whatcha got there?” He asked, gesturing to the bag with his head.

“Taco Bell,” I said. “For Booth.”

Bowe grinned.

“He’s in his bunk,” he said. “Just go through that hall right there,” he pointed to the hallway at his back with a thumb. “His door is the first on the right. He doesn’t share a room with anyone.”

Why he was telling me that last tidbit, I didn’t know, but I’d take it.

It was obvious that Booth needed to talk about something, and I’d oblige him if he needed it.

“Thank you,” I waved, already heading in the direction of Booth.

“No problem, sweet cheeks,” Bowe clicked his tongue at me.

I tossed him the finger over my shoulder and entered the hallway on his laugh.

I didn’t knock on Booth’s door as I walked in, being sure to be quiet in case he was sleeping.

Which he was.

With the light on and classic rock on fairly high.

He was on his back, his large, buff arms were above his body, hands crossed behind his head.

The tattoos that ran across his chest and abdomen were relaxed.

His abs, though, even in their relaxed state, were still just as defined as ever.

His chest rose and fell with steady, even breaths.

His eyes were closed, his beautiful lashes fanned out across the top of his cheeks.

His hair was still wet, indicating that he’d just gotten out of the shower.

He was also only in a towel.

And his cock was perfectly outlined by said towel.

I closed the door as soft as I possibly could and then locked it for good measure.

I licked my lips as I walked towards him, stopping at the end of the bed.

Bending down, I placed the gallon of sweet tea on the floor beside the bed, and the bag directly next to it.
