“No,” I whisper, turning to Jared. “Deep down she probably knows, but she’s never said anything to me. I’m sure she’s afraid of me getting fired.”
Jared chuckles. “And she’s right. If anyone knew what we’ve done, we’d be in so much trouble.”
Which is true. Jared and I purposefully put certain people in the sex rooms together over the years because we knew those people were perfect for each other.
“Think of all the couples who are still together because of us,” I say, winking at Jared.
Jared drinks the rest of his wine and winks back at me. “Now all we have to do is find people for ourselves.”
I bump him with my shoulder. “We will. I have faith in that. But for now, I’m going to enjoy watching my best friend relish in her special day.”
He holds out his hand. “Want to join them on the dance floor?”
It just so happens that Scotlyn glances over at us with a big smile and waves a hand for us to come. I take Jared’s hand and we walk out to the dance floor, taking a spot right beside Scotlyn and Brent.
Brent twirls Scotlyn around and grins at me. “Can you believe she said yes? The nerd finally got the girl.”
“Yes, he did,” I reply, laughing as Jared spins me around. “But I know the girl truly loves the nerd.”
Scotlyn giggles and kisses Brent. “That’s for damn sure. And I always will.”
Brent lifts her in his arms and kisses her again. “And I will always love you.”
Their words bring me hope. Hope that one day I’ll have my perfect day. Until then, I’ll keep doing what I do.
