I’d sworn up and down when our little girl was born four years ago that she was my first and only—. And then the little man had come along two years later--all hellfire and sweetness. I’d promised our family was complete, but it wasn’t a year later that Brett started talking about more babies in the house, and I was smart enough to know by now that when my husband had his mind on something, I had no chance of changing it.
Also, we made beautiful babies, and my husband had the ability to charm the pants right off of me, as proven by this babymoon vacation he’d orchestrated secretly.
"Everything was beautiful today."
"Most of all you," Brett whispered in my ear. He captured my lips with his own and ran his tongue along my bottom lip. I parted my lips and our tongues tangled together in a slow dance. I inhaled his sweet scent and the ocean breeze that swirled around us.
“This couldn’t be more perfect."
"Just like you." He ran his thumb along the curve of my mouth.
"Just like us."
EPILOGUE THREE
BRETT - five years later
“My caveman,” she murmured as I crossed into our room and set her down in front of the bed. She nipped her lip between her teeth and looked up beneath hooded eyelids.
“God, that look, baby.” My heart pounded in my chest. I traced a finger along her collarbone, ran it across her shoulder, and then gently turned her away from me. I slowly unhooked the tiny hooks on her dress and watched it pool at her feet on the floor. The sexy corset she was wearing accentuated the perfect curve of her ass, down to her creamy thighs. I ran my fingers down her soft legs and unsnapped the garters. They dropped as I ran my hands back up to her waist, dusting my fingers along the lace covering her pussy. She moaned and arched into me and my dick throbbed in my pants. I was so fucking hard for her; I’d been thinking about this moment all goddamned day.
I moved my fingertips to slowly unhook each hook of the corset before it dropped to the floor at her feet. I pulled her long hair around her neck and let it lay over one shoulder. She arched her neck and opened up to me. I leaned in and dusted my lips along her skin, over her shoulder, following the curve of her body.
“So beautiful. Every inch of you.” I inhaled the skin beneath her ear, taking in her soft scent. “I can smell you, how turned on you are. You have no idea what it does to me.” I thrust my aching hard-on into her ass to let her feel just how fucking turned on I was.
A muffled groan escaped her throat as she arched her back and threaded her fingers into my hair from behind. I sucked on the skin beneath her earlobe before I slowly turned her to face me.
“I have something for you to celebrate.” I pulled back, a seductive grin lifting my lips. “It’s been ten years since the day we met.”
“Oh...I'm ready and waiting.” She pressed her open palm to my rock hard erection with a sultry smile.
“I have something else.” I shook my head and bent to the duffel bag under our bed where I'd been keeping something for her.
She smiled before taking the present from my hands and hooking a finger in the wrapping paper. She peeled the paper away and I watched her eyes as they rose in surprise, her mouth forming a perfect O, before she put one hand to her mouth. “Brett,” the word escaped her lungs on a puff of air.
“It's a first edition of Walden: A Life in the Woods by Henry David Thoreau.” I had noticed my worn copy on her bookshelf. “It took me three years to wait for a copy to come up for sale.
“It’s so beautiful.” Her hands ran over the worn fabric of the cover.
“Is it okay? I didn't know what I could get that would mean enough.“
“Brett, it's so perfect. I never told you, but I did my masters thesis on Walden. It’s what inspired me to stay here, in the woods. It’s what brought me to you…” Soft tears fell down her cheeks.
My eyes narrowed in confusion. “What do you mean?” I swiped tears from her cheeks with my thumb.
“I'd been living in a daze through all of college, but seeing that book brought it all back, brought my life here back, and I knew I couldn’t stay away anymore. I left the same day.” Her dark chocolate eyes held my own. I sucked in a quick breath and pulled her into my arms. Caressing her soft hair, murmuring in her ear how much I loved her. “God, okay, enough.” She giggled as she swiped at the tears in her eyes. “I don't have anything for you,” she said softly.
