“Okay everyone, it’s time!” Dylan calls, getting the attention of our guests. Friends and family slowly gather around the big table, and the chattering subsides to a low murmur. “Let’s get this show on the road and see if we’re having a son or daughter!”
“Here we go,” I laugh, taking the knife in hand. I cut into the cake and then ooh and ahs ring out as a bright blue slice is pulled from the white behemoth. “It’s a boy!” I say joyfully.
Frank and Dylan stand stark still for a moment, their huge forms like massive mountains on either side of me. But then, they pull me in for an embrace, those strong arms enveloping my swollen body.
“Thank you, sweetheart,” Dylan whispers in my ear. “You’ve made our dreams come true.”
“You’re going to be a wonderful mommy to our son,” Frank adds in a low voice. “And we love you so much.”
With that, we kiss and the crowd claps even as the liplock turns passionate. But to my surprise, Frank presses a giant slice of blue cake into my hand, along with a fork.
“Oh, I can’t right now,” I giggle. “You know how the morning sickness has been lately. I’ll probably throw up!”
My lovers shake their heads, their azure eyes mysterious.
“Just one bite,” urges Dylan.
“You’ll like it, I promise,” adds Frank with a wink.
With an exasperated smile, I take the cake from them and pop a mouthful between my lips. But to my surprise, my teeth crack into something hard.
“What’s this?” I ask. “Goodness, I hope I didn’t break something!”
The handsome mechanics merely laugh as I fish through the crumbs on my plate, only to reveal a giant diamond ring buried in the dough. It’s gorgeous and sparkles madly under the lights as I slip it onto my finger.
“Oh my God,” I breathe, tears springing to my eyes. “Dylan? Frank? Is this really…?”
The two men drop to one knee before me, each taking one of my hands in their strong ones.
“Yes, it is, sweetheart. We love you, April, and we want to make this forever,” Dylan begins.
“Will you be our wife?” Frank finishes hoarsely, his blue eyes shining. “Will you make us the happiest men on Earth?”
With that, I lean forward to bestow them with kisses.
“Yes!” I whisper with emotion. “A million times, yes! I love you so much, my filthy mechanics.”
With that, the next chapter of our story begins because I never expected any of this to happen when my Civic broke down on the side of the road. In fact, that day I was only hoping to catch a ride to the nearest town before calling up my manager to explain. But help came in the form of two gorgeous mechanics who claimed me and put their baby in my belly. I belong to Dylan and Frank now, and my heart turns over with sheer happiness at the knowledge.
