Once we were clear of the room, I pulled Georgie closer to me and we started down the hall toward the lobby of the hotel that was attached to the country club.
“Isn’t this cozy.”
The sound caused me to freeze, and Georgie stumbled to a sudden stop.
I looked behind me and saw Lindsay standing there.
Fuck.
Without saying a word, I started to walk again. Georgie glanced over her shoulder.
“Not even a hello for your ex—”
I spun around. “Not a fucking word, or you’ll hear from my lawyer.”
Lindsay flashed an evil smile. “Oh, I forgot about that little piece of paper.” She looked at Georgie. “Georgiana Crenshaw. The one who got away.”
“I’m sorry?” Georgie asked as she stared at Lindsay with a confused expression.
“You don’t know?” Lindsay laughed. “Oh, this is rich, Blayze. The girl who broke your heart and pushed you into the arms of another has no idea you’ve been pining over her since you were in high school.”
Georgie turned and looked at me. “What is she talking about?”
“Nothing. Let’s get out of here.”
Placing my hand on Georgie’s elbow, I turned her around and guided her out the door.
Georgie remained silent, thank God, as I handed the valet my ticket. When my truck pulled up, I looked down at her. “Please don’t ask me what Lindsay meant, Georgie. Not tonight.”
She gave me a soft smile. “I won’t. When you’re ready, we’ll talk about it.”
I cupped her face in my hands and kissed her. “The only thing I want to think about tonight is you and how I’m going to explore every inch of your body.”
Her eyes sparkled with desire. “I like the sound of that.”
Chapter Fifteen
GEORGIANA
The drive back to Blayze’s house seemed to take forever. I wasn’t sure why I was so nervous. Okay, that was a lie. I was nervous because this was Blayze. I’d dreamed of him making love to me for way too long. He was my first crush. The first boy who’d ever kissed me. The first boy to ever touch me intimately, and the first boy who’d broken my heart in two. He had the power to do it again, but I wasn’t a shy little girl anymore. I was experienced, and I knew exactly what I was doing.
But the moment we slept together, everything would change. There was no way I was even going to write an article now. Not even the original story idea. Something inside me had shifted tonight. The more I was around the Shaw family, the more I realized I didn’t want to use them in that way.
The sound of the truck turning off pulled me from my thoughts. I turned and looked at Blayze, who was staring at me with eyes so dark with lust and desire my insides trembled.
“Are you sure?” he asked me.
“I’ve never been so sure of anything in my life.”
He smiled and his dimple appeared, making my stomach tumble.
Blayze got out of the truck and jogged around to my side. He opened the door and reached for my hand, helping me slip out.
After lacing his fingers in mine, we headed into his house and straight to his bedroom. My heart hammered in my chest when I heard the sound of the door shutting behind us.
My eyes scanned the massive king-size bed, and a strange thought hit me. What would it be like to wake up every morning in his arms? In this room, in this bed. What would it be like to be his?
I closed my eyes and pushed away those crazy thoughts. This was for right now, and that was okay. Blayze walked up behind me and pressed his mouth to my neck, kissing me so softly that desire bloomed in every single one of my nerve endings. I was acutely aware of how my body reacted to him.
“You’re so beautiful, Georgie,” he whispered as he ran his tongue over my skin, then followed the path with light kisses. His teeth grazed my earlobe before he gently bit down on it, causing me to lean back into him and moan.
He pushed his hips into me, allowing me to feel how much he wanted me.
When his hands lifted up to my breasts and squeezed softly, I dropped my head back against his chest. “Blayze,” I whispered in a needy voice. “Please.”
He started to slowly unzip my dress while I focused on keeping myself upright. I’d never had a man go so slowly, as if he wanted to commit every moment to memory. I did as well. Once I told him I was no longer doing the interview, I’d have to leave the ranch. Tonight might be our only night.
I squeezed my eyes shut. I didn’t want to think about that right now. I wanted to be in the moment.
When his fingers came up to my bare shoulders, I jumped. He chuckled and slowly pushed the dress down my arms, allowing it to pool at my feet.
