I fell for her right away in spite of my dad’s warnings.
And now, I don’t know what to do.
“Who are you texting?” Del asks behind me.
I squeeze my eyes shut and shove my phone into my pocket. “Does it really matter?”
Her eyes search mine. “Does it?”
“Blood vows and all that shit,” I shrug. “You should be in bed.”
“Yeah well…” She shrugs. “I figured the easiest thing to do was to just pull the band-aid right off.”
“Huh?”
She reaches for me.
I stumble back against the couch. “What the hell are you doing?”
“Claim me like you promised.”
My stomach churns.
I want to say I can’t do it.
Does she see the absolute terror in my eyes?
I can’t tell if she’s bluffing.
She lifts my shirt and pulls it off my head.
Everyone is sleeping.
It feels so wrong.
I want to tell her I can’t go through with it; part of me thinks she’s going to call my bluff though, so I lean in to kiss her only to feel the steel of a blade against my throat.
“…so this is how it’s going to go…”
