“So, we probably owe Eli some kind of thank-you gift or a card at the very least because I’m fairly certain that shit’s expensive.” And he hadn’t gone to the discount bin. “You have an adorable hood that’s got lots of blues and hints of green in it. I’m not sure about the breed because that seems hard to tell without it being on an actual head, but it looked like you’d be cuddly and sweet. Just like you.”

His groan didn’t give me much to go on, but it wasn’t a safeword, so I kept going. “There are some mitts and knee pads that look thick and supportive. I was worried about you getting hurt but I think you’ll be fine now.”

They really had been a smart addition that I appreciated.

“There is a harness that seems like it would go on the outside of biker shorts or boxer briefs and have an external tail. There’s a tail that looks like it would fit in the harness and arch up so you could wag it.” For some reason that had him going very still.

Was he worried about what I’d think of it?

The list of what could be worrying him was longer than I wanted to admit, so I just picked the most obvious to ramble about. “You’ve definitely got the ass for wagging, so I think that’s going to be fun even if you are wearing clothes.”

And I got a snicker…and even better…he’d started to relax.

“It’s going to look cute on you and I can’t wait to see how your pup side shows off how excited he is.” Human Ender wasn’t always emotive, so I was curious to see how that would translate into pup behavior.

“The guy…the one who came by…he said lube was my friend.” Ender’s whispered words let me know which part he wanted to hear about next.

“I would have to agree with him, and someone else thought that was important too—because I’m not going to lie—there’s a bottle of the expensive kind in the box. That stuff set someone back a pretty penny unless they get a discount through work? Maybe it’s a promo thing?” Their marketing would have to be very interesting.

Ender groaned and his wiggles felt like he was trying to figure out how to crawl under me and hide.

“But that’s probably a good thing because there is an…an internal-based tail that will need lube.” Ender went still again, but I was prepared to keep chattering, so I wasn’t worried. “Everything is also out of the packaging and washed according to the note that was on top of the goodies.”

Ender’s groan that time was accompanied by words. “Someone washed my tail.”

Yes, they had.

“I think the idea was that Eli wanted you to be able to go right into playing? It seems like he was trying to be nice and might’ve just overstepped.” Nothing in the note sounded like he was fucking with Ender, but we didn’t know the guy well enough for me to be confident about it.

“Crazy man washed my tail.”

Ender couldn’t seem to move past that so I just shrugged. “Crazy man would’ve helped insert the tail. I think we should count our blessings and not focus on the pushiness of it.”

From what I’d seen, it didn’t look like he could help it.

“Some people are just like that.” Ender sighed, burrowing closer and wrapping the blanket tighter around his body. “At least he’s well-intentioned?”

Unlike Ender’s family?

Yeah, I could see that distinction being important.

“I agree. He also put a lot of thought into the box and didn’t just throw in random shit.” Kissing the lump that was Ender’s head, I ran my hand over what I thought was his back. “I bet he’s pissed he had to send someone else.”

“Probably.” Ender's whiny tone said he didn’t like having to admit that. “But…but the guy he sent over was nice. Nonthreatening, you know. Like an eager puppy in human form kind of nice?”

Eli was not a stupid man…he was nuts, but smart.

“That’s good.” I couldn’t help laughing. “Can you imagine what you’d have done if he sent the big screaming guy over? Or that one who’s really big and always frowning?”

There were so many people coming and going that it was hard to keep track of who worked there and who was just hanging out. Some of the couples were obvious, like the tattoo guy down the street who seemed to be dating one of the models, but not every situation was that clear.

They all just got naked together way too easily for the connections to be obvious.

Ender’s giggle was mixed with another groan, but it was silly and dramatic that time. “I’d have died. It’d have probably been worse if he sent over one of the really shy guys too. Can you imagine two awkward introverts just standing there trying not to upset the other?”
