In his Jace-like way he was being so careful that he didn’t even jostle me, and when he sat back in his seat and pulled the blanket around me in the cool cabin of the plane, I knew why he’d awakened me.

“Look!” He pointed out the window at the big ball of fire that was between the sky and the water. I’ve seen many sunrises, but I don’t recall one as beautiful as this one. I couldn’t take my eyes away.

“It’s perfect.” I kept my voice barely above a whisper and was so wrapped up in our own little world that I didn’t realize the others had been awakened as well and had their faces pressed up against the windows enjoying the sight.

“This is the perfect way to kickoff our honeymoon.” We watched the sun until its warmth lulled me back to sleep.

I slept the first few hours after we landed. But who could blame me? I’d travelled for roughly a whole day in the last two. Battling nausea half the way I might add.

I woke in the early afternoon well refreshed and rearing to go. Jace the nut was running around making sure that our first night on the island was going to be a perfect one.

Dinner was going to be served on the beach and there was going to be a band I think I heard. But for the rest of the afternoon it was just fun playing near the water’s edge and getting some sun.

By the time the sun started to go down, I’d only had to disappear once to throw up. Thank heaven Jace was too busy being a dictator to notice, because other than that, he hardly left my side.

I’ve been hiding and sneaking peeks on the Internet for information about some things that makes no sense to me. Having never expected to find myself pregnant at this stage in life, I never really paid too much attention to anything having to do with pregnancy.

Though I realize now that that was a big mistake. Anyone having sex no matter how much protection you use, is still at risk. Risk sounds like such a harsh word.

Anyway, I had to look up the different side effects of throwing up and why it was called morning sickness when it seemed to show up at any given time of the day.

Mostly I wanted to understand this phenomena of feeling like I was about to die one minute, only to rebound with renewed energy the next. After I’d thrown up my liver of course.

They know. They know and she still hasn’t told me. I’m trying to be understanding with that shit, but now it’s getting to the point where she’s crossing the line. Why the fuck won’t she tell me?

I see her sneaking around with them standing watch, like I’m stupid. She thinks I’m distracted, too busy, whatever the fuck is going on inside her head, but she’s wrong. I know every freaking move she makes….

“Bruh….your face.”

“Not now Track, Im pissed.”

“Why don’t you just tell her that you know?” I don’t even want to know how he knows that that’s what’s bothering me.

“What the fuck for? Isn’t it supposed to be the other way around?”

“Yes, but she must have her reasons. Maybe she’s scared, maybe she doesn’t know how you’re going to react. You ever think about that?”

“None of that shit matters. And if she’s scared that makes her keeping this shit from me even worse. She’s supposed to tell me when she’s afraid.”

“I bet you in the end, when it’s all said and done, she’s going to have a legit reason for not telling you.”

“I know why she’s not telling me. She thinks I’m going to bench her ass.”

“And what are your plans once she tells you?”

“I’m going to bench her ass. Now fuck off!”

I walked away because his laugh was pissing me off and because I didn’t really want to put my fist through my friend’s face. I was just mad at my wife for keeping shit from me.

I wasn’t nervous, but I knew she was. It was our wedding night after all, and she knew what was coming. Well technically that was a few nights ago. I’d wanted to wait, to give her time.

First because the flight after the wedding had been long and I knew she was tired. So that first night I just held her. And stayed up most of the night watching her sleep. And most importantly, I wanted her to relax so she could enjoy her first time.

Now we’re here on the island, which is where I’ve been imagining taking her for the first time since I knew we were getting married right before coming here. I wanted it to be perfect for her, wanted her to look back on the experience fondly for the rest of her life.
