The cool breeze was a nice relief on her heated skin. Turning her mind to their conversation, she had never given a thought to how spending time with Riot MC as collateral would be perceived here. She should have, it was foolish of her not to. She’d heard enough talk about Fallen MC while she was there. This could definitely become a problem if it became general knowledge.

They could treat her as some kind of informant for Riot. If they did, her time here would be miserable and no doubt, painful. They could also see her as a commodity, like Duke suggested. It would be incredibly stupid and dangerous if she ended up between rival MC’s, especially when she wasn’t guaranteed protection from either. If Riot found out she was here she was positive that Wrath, their president, would have her hunted down to find out what she knew and what she’d divulged. The odds were that she wouldn’t get to walk away from an encounter like that.

She hadn’t been collateral for Riot for two years. If she told Fallen anything and it turned out to not be the case anymore then they could accuse her of setting them up or working with Riot, neither of which would be true. This was a lose-lose situation for her and she’d avoid it at all costs. No good could come from it. It all came down to trust. If Fallen trusted her information, or if a Riot trusted her to not spill any information. She had nobody’s trust.

She didn’t give her trust easily and neither would any of the brothers in Fallen, but something in her trusted Duke not to screw her over and she prayed he would keep it to himself. It was in their nature as an MC to be suspicious of the unknown, it’s critical for their survival. She sure wasn’t going to advertise being with Riot around Fallen, that’s for definite. Now all she needed was for Duke to keep his mouth firmly shut. He had seemed to understand her reluctance to share. Getting caught up between two rival MC’s was the most dangerous situation to be put it.

In the back of her mind, she recalled her Dad saying his dealings were exclusive with Riot. That had obviously been bullshit. Much of what he said usually was. Most of the members of Riot MC were scary bastards, particularly, Wrath. He’d taken a liking to her instantly and she’d spent most of her days trying to hide from him. She only faced him when ordered to. Luckily, he spent most of his time high or drunk and she was quickly forgotten when she hid. She was fortunate that being collateral only made her their slave, as they called her, but not a sex slave. Some of the brothers had tried enticing her with offers of drugs and money but she’d never sink that low to give it up for any other reason than that she wanted to. She wasn’t a club slut and there because she wanted to be. She had no loyalty to them, so they had to be careful how far they pushed.

Curse her bastard Father for putting her in this situation again. She was ever so slightly grateful that he’d made a deal with Fallen instead of Riot again. She didn’t feel threatened by this club. She was wary, it’d be stupid not to be, but she felt a certain amount of assurance that she wouldn’t be harmed, at least by the men. Those bitches hadn’t taken kindly to her presence and bitches were never to be trusted or underestimated. They only cared about themselves and any standing they thought they had within the club. They’d turn on each other like starving dogs with the slightest provocation if they thought it would favour them in the eyes of the brothers. She guessed tonight would be telling if she was right in her verdict about Fallen MC. She sure hoped she was. The alternative wasn’t very appealing. The fact that they were having a Sunday barbecue seemed almost family friendly, yet Duke had mentioned about being ‘squeamish’ and that didn’t fit into her scenario.

She couldn’t believe it was Sunday. When she’d heard one of the skanks mutter it to another as they were entering the bar earlier about the monthly Sunday barbecue, she’d almost demanded to see a calendar. Whatever Slam had drugged her with had caused her to lose Friday night and most of Saturday. No wonder she felt well rested. She’d have to give him some friendly advice to check his dosages in the future. There’s no way they wanted her to be out for twenty-four hours.

She figured her time-out was almost up. She needed to get her hands on a clock or preferably her cell phone. No doubt she wasn’t going to see that thing for a while. The quickest her Dad had ever recovered her was eight days and she didn’t believe he was going to break that record any time soon.

Reluctantly pulling herself from the bed, she changed into her cream, tailored, mini shorts and another Fallen black tank. She paired her combo with her nude stilettos. Her friend, Sandy, said she must have been born wearing stilettos because she’d never seen her wearing anything else. Looking into the mirror she decided that it was pointless doing her full make up if she would just sweat it off, so, she added another layer of mascara and a touch of eyeliner, making hers eyes pop. She smoothed her hair best she could and put it into a high pony, she would be cooler that way and it wouldn’t fall into whatever filth or spilled drinks she’d be told to deal with. She was happy with the overall result.

Taking a couple of deep breaths and giving herself an internal pep talk, Nicole left her room and headed back to the bar. Entering, she noticed a few women and brothers had arrived and some of the tables were covered with bowls of chips and peanuts. There were some empty glasses littered about already. She knew straight away she’d have a lot of cleaning up to do later. Thank god they had hard wood floors throughout, she couldn’t stand the smell of carpet cleaner.
