I was seconds away from saying fuck it and taking her right there in the back of the car when the vehicle slowed and rolled to a stop. Thank fuck. I hit the intercom button and croaked, “Stay in the car where it’s warm, Garrett. We can get ourselves out.”

“Thanks,” he replied.

Knowing the door would remain shut until we were ready gave me some time to settle my body. I pushed her back a little on my legs so she wasn’t directly on top of my erection, and closed my eyes, then inhaled slowly, trying to calm my raging desire. If I didn’t get my dick to soften just a little, I wouldn't be able to walk. When I opened my eyes, Samantha was watching me, and I could tell she was unsure as to what to do next.

I gave her a small smile to set her at ease and reached around her to the floor and picked up her coat. As I helped her put it back on, I murmured, “I just need another minute, baby doll.” My smile turned wry. “You make me so fucking hard, and it can be difficult to walk with a steel pipe between your legs.”

Samantha looked surprised, but then she dissolved into giggles. The sweet sound helped me focus on something other than how close my cock was to her pussy. After a minute, I was able to shift her onto the seat next to me and open the car door. I climbed out, then reached in to help her. When her small hand clasped mine and I closed my fingers around it, I felt something inside me settle, a restlessness I hadn’t realized was there.

Without a word, I tucked her into my side, and we hurried into the lobby of our building. The blast of heat soothed the icicles forming in our veins, but I kept her close and guided her to the elevator.

Felix, the concierge on duty, looked up when we entered the building, but as soon as he saw it was me, he gave me a subtle chin lift and went back to his work. It might have seemed rude to people who weren’t New Yorkers, but it was actually a sign of respect. I wasn’t a chatty guy, and the doormen and desk attendants knew that. So they kept our interactions brief unless I instigated more of a conversation. And as the owner of the building, they didn’t request any guests who entered with me to sign in.

Of course, I’d introduce her to everyone eventually so that they knew she was mine and to help her with anything she needed.

At the bank of elevators, I swiped a key in front of the last one, and it immediately opened. It was my private elevator, so I didn’t need to swipe again or push a button once we were inside. The doors whooshed shut, and the car shot up until it came to a smooth stop on the top level.

Even though it was a private elevator, I didn’t want anyone to be immediately admitted to my home, so the lift opened to a small vestibule outside my front door. We crossed the few steps to the entrance, and I used a fob to disengage the lock.

Being the daughter of a billionaire, Samantha had grown up in the lap of luxury—which was what made her humility and soft heart even more special—so I couldn’t help puffing up with pride when she walked in and gasped with delight.

“Noah, this place is gorgeous!”

One of my projects over the past seven months had been scouring her social media and working with a designer to make our home a place that Samantha would fall in love with. Of course, I wanted her to put her stamp all over it, but I could see that the little changes I’d already made had been worth it.

“I’m glad you like it,” I replied as I took off my coat and hung it in the closet before taking hers and doing the same.

The apartment common area was a big, open space with a living room, dining area, and kitchen. One wall was eclipsed by floor-to-ceiling windows that bathed the space in the warmth of the sunshine. On the other side of the house were two bedrooms in addition to the master, as well as a gym, and home theater room.

But we were definitely going to need more bedrooms, a dedicated playroom, possibly a library, and anything else Samantha wanted. My lawyers were working out a negotiation with the owners of the condos one floor down, and as soon as they’d moved, I was going to have a talk with Justice about the best way to convert our apartment into a two-level.

Samantha wandered for a few minutes, smiling as she took in the pretty blue hues, mixed with cream, and accented with chocolate brown. I grinned when she stopped in front of the giant fireplace and stared up at the painting hung right above it. “This is my favorite piece of art,” she told me with a smile and twinkling blue eyes.
