Joey grunted as he dropped into a chair next to me. “Save that nasty ass bedroom talk for the bedroom.”
Jessie smacked him on the back of the head, making me grin. He shot a disgruntled look at her, but I knew he wasn’t truly annoyed. It had been years since Jessie had been this laid back, and he was happy for her.
He might not have agreed with me and her being together at first, but he knew I would never give up on her. This woman was the center of my fucking universe. Me driving away hadn’t been me giving it up on her; it had been me forcing her to realize what she really wanted and what was truly important. Because me being up her ass all the time was driving a wedge between us.
Elaina strode into the room carrying Antonio. Alejandro emerged from the bathroom off to the side. Elaina’s eyes widened in surprise upon seeing him, but a small smile crossed her lips.
I glanced over at Joey. He was watching them, but there was something else in his eyes that I couldn’t pinpoint. It wasn’t jealousy or anger. Not even possessiveness.
It was something strange that I’d never seen in a man before when watching his woman with another man.
Alejandro walked over to Elaina and lifted Antonio from her arms, pressing a kiss to the top of his head before he grabbed the side of Elaina’s face and pressed a kiss to her temple, leading her over to our table afterward with her hand clasped in his.
I arched an eyebrow at Joey, but he just shook his head at me, a silent order to let it go. I shrugged and looked back at Jessie, pushing my concern to the side. If a brother didn’t want to talk, he wasn’t going to open up. That was just the fact of life. And whatever Joey had going on in his relationship wasn’t my concern unless it began to affect the club.
Jessie pressed a kiss to my cheek, drawing my eyes back to her. “I missed you,” she told me.
I laughed. “Babe, you were an inch away from literally being up my ass every single moment of the day in the hospital.”
She shook her head and reached up, brushing some of my hair back off my forehead. I needed a haircut, but I’d deal with that some other time. “I meant I missed having you here,” she said softly. My eyes softened. I brushed my hand down her spine. “I know our separation was necessary for me to get my head in the right place, to figure out what I wanted, but I missed you anyway.”
I gripped her chin and pulled her lips to mine, kissing her. I growled when someone tapped my shoulder, interrupting us. I snapped my head up, surprised to see one of the club girls standing there. Her tits were almost hanging out of her shirt, and half of her ass cheeks were visible in her shorts.
Were they even shorts?
Jesus Christ. I was glad I’d never stuck my dick in any of these fucking women. Her shorts—or underwear—was a fucking yeast infection waiting to happen.
“Is there anything I can help you with, Ink?” she asked, trailing her hand over my shoulder.
Jessie smacked her hand away, glaring up at the girl. I bit my lip, biting back my laugh and my smirk. I loved seeing Jessie being possessive of me. “If my fucking man needs anything, I’ll get it for him. Now fuck off,” Jessie snarled.
I heard Whiler whistle from somewhere in the room, yelling catfight right after. I rolled my eyes and tightened my hold on Jessie. I knew she could hold her own, but I really didn’t feel like watching her get in a fight.
Jessie was brutal as fuck. Life had hardened her. She’d kill the bitch if I let her.
The girl sneered at my woman. “I don’t know who the fuck you think you are—”
Joey even sat up straighter at that, his eyes narrowed on the club bunny. I gripped the girl’s arm and yanked her down so our faces were mere inches apart. She flinched at the cold look in my eyes. Jessie’s hands flattened on my chest, taming the beast inside of me that always rose its ugly head when it came to Jessie. “Talk to my woman fucking sideways if you want to, and I’ll have your ass booted out of here quicker than you can tell either of us you’re fucking sorry,” I sneered.
She opened her mouth to retort something back, but Joey got up and gripped her hair, snapping her head back to stare up at him. She paled. Joey was . . . different. He didn’t condone violence against women, but he’d sure as fuck remind one of her place in this club when it came to family.
