Suddenly, he unlatches from my mouth. “Fuck, I’m going to come.” He pulls his dick out, and I look down to see it pulse.

“What are you doing?” I ask.

“You didn’t want me to—”

I wrestle my way from underneath his hands and grab his dick. “I want you. All of you.” I swallow. “I want you to come. Inside me.” It’s hard to say it out loud. To admit my own desires to him.

But he accepts them with such grace and without any judgment whatsoever.

And with a smirk on his face that says “finally, she’s submitted and truly mine,” he’s right back to claiming me, his hands immediately covering mine.

“All right, Angel.”

A shiver runs up and down my spine. Angel. A word I used to despise now brings me joy.

“But know this was the last time I would’ve allowed you to get out from underneath me,” he growls.

I moan with delight when he buries his face in my neck and plants possessive kisses everywhere. When his cock plunges back inside again, I almost lose it and gasp out loud.

“Fuck …” he groans after a few more thrusts.

The way his body moves over mine pushes me over the edge, and I fall apart together with him, my orgasm coming in wave after wave as he is plunging into me. His whole body quakes as he releases his seed inside me, and I can feel his warmth filling me up to the brim.

We’re both panting, and even though it cost us both so much energy, I know he’s struggling. His body has already endured so much, and then to fuck me on top of it all … it amazes me.

He leans down on one elbow, his breath close to my ear. “I … love you.”

Tears well up in my eyes. “I love you too.”

He looks up, and even though there is pain in his eyes, there’s also hope. Hope for a better future together. “You don’t know how much I’ve longed to hear those words.”

I smile up at him, but it’s a bittersweet smile because I know what must follow.

He sighs as he gets up on his knees. “But I will not allow you to stay.”

I lean up on my elbows, gazing at him in his full glory. The beauty that encompasses him is almost too much to behold. He’s like a sculpture, so perfectly crafted yet so full of blemishes and flaws.

Is that how he saw me too when I first came here?

How he sees me now?

Suddenly, a door behind us unlocks. Someone steps inside. I don’t hear it, but I see it on Eli’s face.

I glance over my shoulder. Mary.

Chapter 28

Amelia

“I … Oh my God.” From the sound of her voice, she definitely saw us. “Excuse me, I didn’t want to interrupt, but …”

Eli’s face turns completely possessive when he glances at me, and he calls out to her. “Bring me a blanket.”

“Of course, sir,” Mary mutters behind her hand, and she quickly grabs something off the couch, which she hands to him without looking. “Here.”

“Thanks,” he replies, and he throws it over his shoulders, then picks me up in his arms, wrapping us both inside like a burrito. My heart swells with warmth.

“Mary, could you …?”

She hops away. “Oh, of course, Sir. I’ll leave you two to it.”

“Thank you,” he replies.

She tiptoes away hurriedly, but when she gets to the door, Eli opens his mouth again. “Wait.”

She pauses.

“I owe you,” he says.

Their eyes briefly connect, and after a while, Mary smiles and nods slowly.

He’s right. Words cannot repay what she did for him. For me. For us.

She came to me when she knew the risks. It could’ve cost her her job.

“Thank you,” I mutter at her, my cheeks glowing when she smiles back at me too.

“You’re welcome,” she replies, and she walks out the door with her head held high.

“You should give her a raise,” I say.

He chuckles. “Already did.”

I smile back. It’s the first time I can look at him without feeling resentful at my own emotions, without feeling like I need to fight him off. In the frigid air, Eli’s body keeps me warm. And I never realized just how much I missed being this close to him. My body was starving.

I reach for his hand, and when our fingers touch, his eyes home in on mine.

“What are we going to do now?” I ask, my heart is so heavy that it weighs down on me.

“I cannot let you stay here,” he adds. He already said it before, but I was hoping he didn’t mean it. “I won’t allow it. It’s too toxic. You have to go.”

“Come with me,” I say in the spur of the moment.

His pupils dilate. “What?”

“Come home with me,” I say, entwining my hand with his. “Leave this house. Stay with me instead, so we can rebuild our own life. Together.”
