She shook her head. “I don’t mean I’m fertile now, Daddy. Sorry. Didn’t mean to scare you. I mean that I noticed I can scent other women’s fertility, and I’m noticing the subtle differences in my own. I suspect I’ll know.”
Damon dropped his forehead back against hers. “Okay.” He was still trying to catch his breath.
“Would you have been mad if I’d said I was fertile now?” she asked, her voice shaking.
“Not at all, Baby girl. I was just shocked and hoping we could have more time alone together before we go down that path.”
“Me, too, Daddy. Years. It will be easier if both of us can sense it.”
“You’re right, Little rebel.” He kissed all over her face as he eased out of her and grabbed a washcloth to clean them up.
Ten minutes later, he had her in his arms in their bed, face to face.
She had something to say. He could tell by her nervous fidgeting, and he waited.
Finally she cleared her throat. “I heard the elders talking about me, Daddy.”
Damon wasn’t surprised. Even though she’d been with the other Little girls in the nursery, he suspected her enhanced hearing would have made it possible for her to overhear the conversation he’d had with his father, Brock’s father, and another elder, Germain.
Damon stroked her cheek, waiting to see what she would say next.
“I don’t mind helping if they need me to, Daddy,” she whispered.
He swallowed down the nervous ball in his throat. “I know, Baby girl.” Apparently she’d heard everything. “But you’ll let Daddy make this decision with the other elders, understood?”
“Yes, Sir.”
“I won’t ever put you in a dangerous situation, Olivia. Never. None of the others would either.”
She cupped his face. “I know, Daddy. I won’t say another word. I know the thought of not being able to fully control my safety makes you lose your mind. I know more things about you than the other girls know about their mates. I realize that more every time I’m with them. I’m not like them.”
“I know, Little rebel,” he whispered.
She wiggled closer to him. “I only brought it up so you would know I can hear better and from a distance others can’t. I can scent better and see better, too. I can even taste things in the air.”
“I know, Baby girl.” He kissed her all over her face.
“It scares you,” she whispered.
“Yes, but only because I worry about your safety. I love you to pieces.”
“I love you, too. That’s why I promise I won’t do anything so naughty that you feel like you can’t leave me with the other girls. Gorging on cookies, hide and seek, and stuff like that. I won’t jump down from a deck and face off with bears again. You have my word.”
“Thank you, Baby girl.” He knew she meant every word. It didn’t mean he wouldn’t stress, but all Daddies stressed over the safety of their Littles. It was part of life. He would be more overprotective with her than other Daddies, but he’d already been on that path for two decades, knowing his mate would not have her eyesight.
This odd addition to their lives was not the end of the world. It was simply a challenge they would face together. Forever.
“Daddy?”
“Yes, Little rebel?”
“Will you make love to me again? I want to feel close to you.”
“Yes, Baby girl. I will never turn you down on an offer like that.” He rolled her to her back, lodged his cock at her entrance, and stared down at his precious mate. She was perfection.
She was his.
