“Okay,” he said and shoved his hands deep into his pockets, eyes smoldering at me with no light but the tiny yellow one on my porch. “That’s it.”

“Yep. Good night, Liam.” My hands wrapped around his shoulders, his big strong shoulders so hard and cut, and I pushed up on my toes to kiss his cheek in a strictly platonic way. But the smirk on his lips was teasing, laughing, and something in me snapped.

Instead of a platonic peck on the cheek, I went straight for those full lips, pressing my own right up against them and surprising the hell out of him. It was almost a flat out rejection, the way he stood there unmoving, like his kid sister’s friend had just tried to kiss him, but then I slid my tongue along the seam of his lips and Liam sprang to life. Literally and figuratively. He grew hard against my belly and let out a low groan about a second before his hands wrapped around me, one tangling in my hair and the other so low on my lip it was almost my butt.

Liam growled again and deepened the kiss, shocking me once again with the hunger and intensity in his kiss, the way his mouth completely devoured mine until I was just a mass of desire and hormones. It was a proper kiss, the kind of kiss every woman should experience at least once in her life and this was mine.

And it was with Liam Reyes.

My baby’s daddy.

Oh. Shit.

I gasped and pulled back, both hands still tangled in his hair while I looked at him in shock. What in the hell had I just done, kissing the one man on the planet I should be keeping my distance from? “Crap. Sorry.” I let out an odd squeak and after two clumsy attempts, rushed in my house and slammed the door. Hard.

“Good night, Olive.” Liam’s voice was, once again, filled with amusement, but the tension there was because of me. Because of my kiss.

In response I banged my head against the door and shook my head. What in the hell was I thinking, kissing Liam Reyes like that, of all people? It was a bad idea. A really bad idea. But damn, it was such a great kiss.

I kicked off my shoes and waited until Liam’s engine started and the sound faded down the street, before I sent him a message.

“Sorry about that. I don’t know what came over me.” Then I set the phone down so I wouldn’t be tortured by the screen and made my way upstairs to change into something more comfortable than work clothes that were slowly becoming tighter and tighter. There was no good reason to obsess over what that kiss meant. It didn’t mean anything. For me it was a momentary lapse in judgment and for Liam it was just another kiss, so there was nothing to worry about. It was just hormones anyway, at least that’s what I tried to tell myself. But the truth was, even when he was being a jerk, Liam was too damn attractive and far too charming for any woman, never mind one who’s body raged with hormones.

From the kitchen, I heard the chime of my phone and slowed my movements, taking my time to grab a glass of water and a snack. When I had what I needed to curl up in bed for the rest of the night, I grabbed my phone and looked at the screen.

Liam had responded in his usual way. Short and efficient. “I’m not.” But it wasn’t just the words, the insane man had sent several kissy face emojis.

“You’re a dangerous man, Liam Reyes. Too damn dangerous.”

So dangerous that I fell asleep thinking about the kiss that shouldn’t have happened, and wishing for another.

Liam

When Olive texted me last night to meet her at her place, I thought maybe she wanted to pick up where that hot as hell kiss left off a few days ago. Until I saw the nine o’clock in the morning meet time. That was early as fuck to be out in the world, especially when I wasn’t working but, I was an early riser so when the clock on my phone turned to nine on the dot, I knocked.

When Olive opened the door there were only two things I noticed. Her cleavage and her legs, because they were both on full display in the tiny robe she had on, and nothing else. At least to my overactive imagination. Her legs were smooth and shapely, a little pale considering the sun was always shining in Pilgrim. Olive’s tits had definitely gotten a pregnancy bounce the way they practically spilled over the front opening of her robe, the problem only getting worse—or better, depending on your perspective—when she tightened the sash around her narrow waist. She napped her fingers in front of my face. “Focus, Liam. I’m running late because morning sickness doesn’t give a crap about my schedule.” She was still talking while her feet moved her further inside the house.
