“Come on and relax with me.” We share some food and talk for an hour, but my phone goes off and it’s the guys. They need me. Fucking hell.
“I’m sorry, but I’ve got to be going. Let’s continue this another time, Angel face.” I feel like a prick when she frowns and quickly hides the expression. She has no fucking idea that I don’t want to leave. She belongs with me, but she’s holding so much back and I’m not pushing.
“Okay.”
She walks me to the door and I lean in. “I’m sorry I have to go.”
“Another time, Cowboy.”
“I’m holding you to that,” I growl, pressing my lips to hers. It starts off with just a peck, but then she pulls back and looks into my eyes and I can’t help myself. I grab her and pin her to the wall, slamming my mouth onto hers, crushing our lips together.
She moans, sliding her hands over the back of my skull and into my hair and then my fucking phone goes off again. Turning her ice cold. “You better go.”
“It can wait.”
“No. It’s for the best.” From the look in her eyes, I’ve gone too far and I need to back off.
Fuck. I step back and nod, opening the front door, I step out onto the porch. “Lock up.”
Chapter Five
Angel
“Hey Sammie, it’s good to see you.”
“Same, Angel. Are you on your way to see Cowboy today?”
“No. He wants me to come riding, but I have work to do.”
“Okay, well, take it easy. Don’t let him push your buttons.”
I smile and walk to my car. I’ve been trying to avoid most of the people in town because I can’t stay. It’s already the end of October, and I’m supposed to be gathering more information about the cartels around here. As far as Richter knows, I’m still working on the Miller case, but I haven’t told him that it ended.
I make the drive to Paxton where the drama is heavy and meet with my connections. “Moreno, Reed. I think we need to meet elsewhere. This town’s cartel is growing fast and dangerous.”
“We noticed, but you’re staying in Steeleville for another month at least. We’re going to get another assignment tossed your way at the PI agency to keep you in the area. The law offices in Paxton need a PI, so it’s a perfect opportunity. We’re positive Richter will be eager to get you on it.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, he wants the money and it keeps you close to his allies who have started to grow in the area.”
“Fine. Is there any backup should shit hit the fan?”
“Backup isn’t far away. Trust me, we’ll keep you safe; just remember that you’re working as a PI while here and you shouldn’t tell anyone anything else.”
“I know. I’ve been doing this for a while now and I know how to do my job.”
“Good.” We part ways with a plan for me to just do some surveillance for the lawyer. Surprisingly, Richter did take the bait and allowed me to stay without creating a scene. By the time I return to my apartment, I find Cowboy sitting on the floor outside my apartment.
“Ray, what are you doing here?”
“I promised I wouldn’t sneak inside your apartment, but that didn’t mean I wouldn’t wait for your ass.”
“You could have called.”
“Would you have answered? You’re fucking sneaking out of town and staying gone all day even though I know you’re following Sammie and then I see you meeting with a bunch of guys.”
“First off, I finished my job for Danny. Second, they’re coworkers and I’ve just been given a new assignment. I’m working with a lawyer in Paxton. Okay?”
“Why don’t you just quit and stay with me. I can take care of you and you don’t have to work that dangerous, mediocre paying job.”
“Fuck off, Cowboy. I happen to love my job. Maybe you should just go back to your ranch and leave me alone,” I toss out, pissed as hell by his comment.
“No can do, beautiful.” He winks, throwing his charm at me full blast.
“Why not?” I ask even though my steam has faded.
“Because I fucking missed you and I’m not leaving until I get my goodnight kiss.”
“You’re going to leave after that?”
“If that’s what you want, babe.”
“I don’t.”
“Good.” He scoops me up and carries me into the house with my mouth on his.
“Fuck,” he grunts after pulling his mouth off mine for air. Our lips crash together as he drops down onto the sofa with my body straddling his. My hands are in his short hair, tugging and clawing, needing more. Flexing my hips, I grind against his thick length. The ridge of his cock pulses along my pussy and I’m on the verge of coming on his lap.
“Come for me, Angel. Give me your orgasm.”
“Fuck, Raymond. Too much. I’m close.”
