Slowly, I pull out of her and lay down on the bed beside her. She sighs contentedly and snuggles into my chest. I wrap my arms around her.

“What do we do now?” she asks.

“Whatever we want, Sabrina. Whatever we want. As long as you know you’re mine.”

“I know.”

“Let me take you out to dinner,” I say.

“Why?” she asks, raising an eyebrow.

“So I can court you,” I tell her.

“Court me? You’ve got me. There’s no need for that. Grown men don’t need to go out on dates.”

“Really?”

“Yeah. Let me cook for you,” she says.

“You want to cook for me?”

“You got someone else cooking for you?” she asks, sitting up and I know we aren't just talking about cooking now.

“Hell no, sugar. You’re the only one I want cooking my meals.”

“You’re making fun of me,” she says getting out of bed. Her mom unpacked her clothes and hung a hot pink silk robe on the back of the door.

“I’m not, sugar. I am just telling you…”

“What are you saying?” she says looking at me.

“I love you, Sabrina.”

“What? You can’t mean that,” she says coming back over to me. I stand, holding both of her hands.

“It’s true. It’s crazy, but it’s true.”

“I… I love you too. How can that be? We literally just met.”

“Love waits for no one, Sabrina.”

“I guess it doesn’t. You’re a wise man,” she says . I lean down and kiss her again.

“I’ve never said that to another woman,” I tell her, breaking the kiss.

“I’ve never said it either,” she admits.

“I like that, sugar.”

“Me too. So about dinner? What kinds of food do you like?”

“I’ll eat anything,” I tell her and she raises her eyebrow at me.

“Anything?”

“Anything,” I repeat. “Should I show you?”

“Yes, please, but eventually we are going to have to do something other than have sex.”

“We have the rest of our lives for that, sugar. The rest of our lives.”

For the next several hours, I love her until her tummy growls again. When we emerge from her room, my dad and her mom are waiting for us in the kitchen. There’s no hint of awkwardness as Penny and Sabrina make soup and sandwiches for lunch.

My dad and I set the table while they are busy.

“Don’t fuck this up,” Dad says, looking at Sabrina.

“I won’t,” I tell him honestly.

There’s no way on Earth I’d fuck this up. I’d die before I hurt her.

Chapter Six

Sabrina

Conrad is… intense and I love it. We spent the entire day together yesterday as well as the entire night. I’m so sore and achy for him that I don’t know what to do with myself now that he’s at work. I miss him.

“Let’s go shopping,” my mom says as I load the dishwasher from breakfast. I’m dragging this morning. Conrad had to be at five since his shift started at six. I’m on my second cup of coffee. Neither cup has done anything for my energy level.

“Yeah. That sounds like a good idea, Mama,” I reply, smiling at her. I missed her more than I thought I would. Being home has shown me just how much. I was really looking forward to my first taste of freedom, but I don't think I even needed it. I think I needed Conrad. I feel less anxious than I ever have and I don’t even know what I was anxious about. We get ready in less than twenty minutes and pile into her Range Rover. Her and James have matching black ones. How freaking cute is that?

“So… Conrad?” she asks as soon as we hit the interstate.

“Yeah. I know it’s weird but I love him. That’s ca-razy right?” I ask.

“Not at all. I knew I loved James from the moment he stepped up to the counter at the hotel. It was intense and the best night of my life. Hell, I married him after six hours. It just felt right, still does.”

“I’m very happy for you, Mama. He seems like a great guy.”

“He’s the best, Sabrina. The best. So dish. You gave your v-card to him, right? Or did you do that in Europe?”

“Ew. No. Definitely gave it to Conrad, about ten minutes after I met him. Like I said, crazy.”

“Well, you managed to hold onto it longer than I did.”

“There’s that. It was amazing. Is it supposed to be amazing?”

“It is when you’re in love. I did not have that experience the first time, but I did the second time.”

“That’s awesome.”

“Speaking of, I have some news.”

“You’re pregnant?” I ask, half-joking, but it would also make so much sense. She’s been crying off and on this morning.

“I am. Can you believe it?”

“Yeah, I can. It’s awesome. I’ve always wanted a sibling. Now, I can spoil him or her rotten.”

“You can. I never thought it would happen for me again. It feels like a miracle.”

“It’s your forever mama.”

“I don't want you to resent me,” she says, choked up again.
