So many spankings. A primal thrill runs through me. Perhaps we have not entirely forgiven one another yet.
His words alternately chastise me, thrill me, and make me want to sob with relief. I will always defend my village, but the burden of doing it alone is a great one, especially now that the world of threats is much more than an occasional rogue storm, and now includes aliens and soldiers and interstellar feuds.
True to his word, Zain pulls my pants down and bares my ass and thighs and starts to spank me. The feeling of his strong palm on my ass is comforting even though it stings and makes me ache. He is not pretending to spank me. He is carefully, but absolutely, definitely disciplining me.
“Do you understand me?” He growls the question down at me. “You are mine, and I will never let you go. I will chase you across the universe time and time again if I have to. You are mine, and I am yours.”
I would respond, but he is spanking me harder and faster, his palm whipping across my cheeks, making them heat up and swell and ache and making me feel small and safe and deeply protected.
He is big and he is bad, but he does love me — and I love him. I would not allow anyone else in the universe to do this. More to the point, my powers would not allow it. If I did not trust him deep, deep down, he would be repelled as strongly and as intensely as Phenix Wrathelder was. He is making my ass sore, and every physical and supernatural force at work is in accordance with that.
“I’m going to be there for you, pet. I am never going to let you go, and I am going to defend your village and you with everything I am.”
Now tears begin to form in my eyes and run down my face. Not because of pain, but because of sheer relief. I am not alone. Not even when I am convinced I must be alone. Not even when I think I’ll always be alone.
He spanks and rubs my ass, slowing what was never truly a proper punishment.
“I am sorry I didn’t explain everything to you,” he says. “When I was with you, I could think of nothing else besides you. When I worked with the villagers in the fields, I did not think of my own world at all. I did not fail to explain the mechanics of catching humans and taking them as pets because I was hiding something from you. I did not tell you because when I was with you, nothing else mattered.”
He is so sweet. Even when he is big and bad and mean.
He lifts me up onto his lap, and I snuggle with him, sharing the concerns that made me a little sassy.
“It could be dangerous. The army came for a reason. They think that something is going on at Hallow Grove. They might have already ransacked the place.”
“If they have, we will rebuild it. In the meantime, when we are in comms distance of Earth, we will have Commander Rex report back that nothing of significance was found.”
“And then disappear forever? They’ll think that’s suspicious.”
“He’s said he can give them a black ops code, something that makes them think he’s been assigned to a secret mission. Along with the rest of his men.”
“He wants to go to your world?”
“Oh yes. He’s very curious.”
“Then he’s going to try to invade it,” I say. “Even with only twenty men. There’s no way he’s not going to start some kind of trouble there. That man is incorrigible.”
“That is Arkan’s problem,” I say. “You are mine.”

“Are you ready, pet?”
Zain asks me the question as he stands with me and all the villagers in the cargo bay of his family’s ship. I almost feel as though I should be the one asking him if he is ready. He is about to be transported away from his family and his world forever.
“I am ready,” I say, sliding my hand into his. “Let’s go.”
The transport beam is activated, and a moment later, we are home.
Hallow Grove is just as it was left. Sun shines on the rooftops of our blessed little home. I feel the land and the breeze reach out to welcome us home. The bones of my ancestors lie here, and one day, mine will join them. No matter how much the word changes, or how many universes are uncovered, this place will always be where I belong.
The villagers rush for their homes with sighs of relief. Being back is like putting on a warm blanket, but all over and on the inside as well. There is no feeling like the feeling of returning to the place from which one came.
