He found a couple of lounge chairs and they sat down, facing each other. His father was watching them both and his mother was already on the way over.
“Come on, let’s jump in,” he said.
Without waiting for Lauren to confirm that was even what she wanted to do, he took her hand and marched them over to the pool, jumping into the water.
He stayed beneath the surface for a few additional seconds before surfacing.
Lauren was laughing. “Anyone ever tell you you’re a little crazy?”
“Yes.”
She chuckled. “Well, you are, in case you were wondering.” She ran a hand down her face.
Neither of them had long to wait before they were pulled into games. For the next hour, he enjoyed simply being with his family and everything became natural to him. He wasn’t putting on a show and from the looks of it, neither was Lauren. His mother had certainly taken a liking to her, and he couldn’t blame her. Lauren had a way about her that just spelled loving.
He was enjoying her company as well. There were moments he caught himself watching her and wanting so much more. The need to kiss her had been growing since he’d asked her to agree to this. Dropping the act, he wanted to take her in his arms, to have her laughter directed at him, or at least for him to be the cause. With his parents there, she seemed to let go and he didn’t need to be an asshole to get what he wanted. Did she like him as well?
Shaking his head, he asked her if she wanted a beverage as they both made their way out of the pool for a much-needed break. He touched her back, offering help when she seemed to slip. Damn, he loved the feel of her skin against his fingers. So soft. He wondered what it would be like to have her close against him. Not for the first time that day, he wished they were alone. He had no choice but to hold back though. This had to stay an arrangement, nothing more. Easier said than done.
He headed inside, found the cold bottles of water, and was about to leave when his father called him over from the grill.
“What’s up?” he asked.
There were two grills as his father did accommodate his lifestyle.
“You know, when I was with your mother, nothing could keep me away from her.”
“Nothing keeps you away from her now. That hasn’t changed.”
“True. I can’t keep my hands off her. Not even if we’re in the company of your family. Drop the act, son.”
“What?”
“You and Lauren, I’ve watched you, and considering she’s important enough to bring home to your parents, then I’d have guessed she means something to you. Right now, I’m not getting that feeling.”
“Seriously, you think because Lauren and I are being respectful—”
“I know you, son. You wouldn’t care what I wanted. You’d just do whatever the hell you wanted.”
“Dad, I don’t know what it’s going to take to convince you, but know this, Lauren is mine. I will do anything for her, and what’s more, I’m going to marry her one day. That’s right, Lauren and I are engaged.”
The lies just easily spilled from his lips.
Before he made an even bigger mess of his situation, he stepped away, walking right up to Lauren.
“I’m so thirsty.” She went to reach for the bottle of water. He threw them onto the lounge chair, cupped her face, and slammed his lips right down on hers, kissing her as if his life depended on it, and to a point, it did. Only, the kiss wasn’t just because of his father’s suspicions. He wanted to kiss her. He’d been wanting it for a lot longer than now. The feel of her lips against his. He couldn’t get enough of her. She was driving him crazy, and he relished every second of it. Needed every single part of her for his own. If they didn’t have an audience, he’d have her naked and finally feel her against him along with the heaviness of her tits in his palms.
She didn’t fight him and for that, he was grateful. He wasn’t about to tell her his revelation to his father either. This kiss was far more than that.
He’d already put it in motion for their relationship to be longer than the weekend.
Finally, after enough time, and even as he really wanted to continue the kiss, he stopped. The moment he did, he wanted to kiss her again.
“What was that for?” she asked.
Me. He didn’t say that. “My dad was starting to have a few problems. He didn’t believe we were real.”
“We’re not real.”
He didn’t like how her words made him feel. “They need to know we are. I’ve got to start touching you, kissing you more.” It wouldn’t be a hardship either.
