Then I started a load after moving the old load from the washer into the dryer.
They smelled pretty clean, meaning he’d likely done them at least in the last twenty-four hours. Leading me to believe he’d started them when he’d come home to get dressed for work this morning after leaving my place.
After finishing up in the laundry room, I made my way out to his kitchen to find his sink full of dirty dishes.
I had to laugh, because when you looked at Will, you would’ve never thought he was a slob.
He was always dressed so presentably, and even when he was at the gym, he always made sure to look presentable before leaving.
But his house on the other hand? Huge pigsty.
It also made me wonder what it looked like when the girls were here.
Which had me walking through the house, taking everything in when I hadn’t the last time I’d been here.
Granted, those few times had been pretty tough on me mentally, and the last thing I’d been worried about was what his place looked like when I was worried about not freaking out.
I found what looked to be the girls’ room and shook my head at all the boxes.
Everything inside of the room was packed ceiling high with brown boxes in every shape and size imaginable.
My lips twitched, and since I was bored out of my mind, and was trying not to think about all the things that could go wrong in a relationship, I chose to make myself busy.
I unpacked way too many boxes into a room much smaller than the boxes warranted.
The thing was, I’d just spent the last year making tiny cabins into spacious abodes, so I had the ability to make do with what I had available.
After unpacking and organizing everything, and Will still wasn’t home, I considered leaving since it was late.
Instead, I did another load of laundry, then used his shower and changed into one of his t-shirts.
Once that was finished, I made myself comfortable on his bed, then waited for him to come home so I could talk to him.
What happened was, I fell asleep, and the man in question didn’t come home until way past three in the morning smelling of mud, smoke, and something I’d rather not consider.
I got out of his bed and headed in the direction of his voice.

WILL
“You don’t happen to know any motorcycle clubs that are mostly friendly, and wouldn’t give a fuck if I work an op while also having their colors on my back, do you?” Easton asked, sounding somewhat distracted.
I blinked, then slowly started to grin into the phone. “Actually, I do have a motorcycle club that might be more than willing to have you join them. Especially seeing as you’re working on a particular case that directly involves some of the key perpetrators responsible for getting their sister into the predicament in the first place.”
Easton chuckled darkly. “How do you know that’s why I need into a motorcycle club?”
I paused for a few seconds, wondering if I should share how I’d come across the information.
“I have a friend of a friend that knows their way around information.” I felt it prudent not to point out my exact source.
“You mean Lynn.”
I blew out a breath, wondering if I should confirm that was who it was, but ultimately decided that it didn’t matter. Lynn hadn’t said that I couldn’t share who I got the information from. In fact, when I’d mentioned Easton’s name, he actually smirked. “Actually, yeah.”
There was a brief pause and then, “Trouper, my brother, works for Lynn. I’m not sure if you know this or not, but Trouper didn’t even tell me he was going in for Cannel until he’d already practically done it. I was just there to apprehend the douchebag. Not actually get her out, like, you know, a law enforcement official should be let in on.”
I chuckled. “Law enforcement officials like us are limited in what we’re allowed to do because it affects other people. People that don’t work within the confines of the law do things and they don’t really care about repercussions. I, on the other hand, envy their ability to move so freely.”
And I was happy that Trouper had moved without consent of the law. Had he done it through the right channels, I might not have Cannel in my arms right then.
Cannel who was very much awake now and listening to our speakerphone conversation.
I had been happy as fuck to pull into the driveway and see her car still in it.
I was even happier to walk into my living room and seeing my dog where she should be, as well as my woman leaning against the wall staring at me, wearing one of my t-shirts.
“What time do you think you’ll hear back from them by?” Easton continued. “Not to rush or anything, but I want to get this O’Ryan prick in the ground. If I can’t do that, then I’ll settle for bringing him in and him spending the rest of his life in prison.”
