Accepting the bite, Jordi chewed carefully. It wasn’t molten, but it was still hot. Thank goodness she hadn’t popped that bite into her mouth without him blowing on it.

“Hot, huh? Did you burn your mouth?” he asked in concern.

“No, you’d cooled it off a lot.”

“Good. Here. Let’s put a few bites on this bread plate. A smaller amount will reach a safe temperature faster,” Callen suggested.

“Smart! We’re stealing that idea,” Davis cheered as he followed Callen’s example.

Soon everyone was able to enjoy their meal without fear that the molten sauce would sear the tops of their mouths. Jordi felt herself relaxing each moment she spent with Davis and Sue. They were obviously in love and he cared for her so easily. When Sue got a bit of sauce on her chin, Davis wiped it off smoothly before Jordi even had a chance to warn her.

Peeking up at Callen, she wondered if they would ever be that easily in tune with each other. His hand wrapped around her thigh once again to squeeze gently, making her smile up at him. Jordi didn’t think she’d ever had a boyfriend who cared so much about her. Already he knew secrets about her that no one knew.

“Will you come play in my nursery?” Sue asked as they finished the delicious food.

“I’d like that,” Jordi answered, feeling excited to see the other Little’s special room.

“Yay!” Sue cheered and nudged her Daddy.

Davis caught the server’s attention, and the men settled the bill so they could leave. Callen followed Davis back to their place and parked.

“Stay there, Jordi. I’ll come let you out,” Callen instructed as he turned off the car before rounding to let her out.

Walking up to the door a few minutes later, Jordi shook off the nervousness that tried to creep up her spine. This is going to be fun! Sue waited for her and took her hand as soon as they got inside.

“Come on. I can’t wait for you to see,” Sue urged.

Jordi paused at the door to the enchanting room. It looked like Sue. “This is beautiful. You are so lucky.”

Jordi ran to the full bookshelf and dragged a finger over the colorful spines of the books. “You have so many books.”

“Daddy is the best reader. He makes books come alive,” Sue bragged.

“Now, Cherry. I’m sure there are other Daddies who excel at that as well,” Davis said from the doorway.

“No way,” Sue denied.

“You two play nice. We’ll come in and check on you from time to time,” Davis assured them.

“Thanks, Daddy,” Sue cheered. “We’ll be good.”

“Promise!” Jordi echoed as Callen looked in.

As soon as the men walked down the hall, Jordi looked at Sue and asked, “Cherry?”

“That’s what Daddy calls me. I love it. What does your Daddy call you?”

“Sunshine.”

“Oooh, I like that, too. I can tell he really likes you,” Sue stated firmly.

“You can?” Jordi asked.

“Of course. He never looks away. I bet he’ll be the first Daddy to come down the hall to check on us,” Sue forecasted before dashing over to pick up a large plastic box. “Do you like to play with blocks? I’ve got a bunch of these that interlock.”

“I haven’t played with those in forever. Here, let me help you.” Jordi rushed forward to take one side of the big bin, and the two Littles carried it over to the table.

“Shall we make something together? How about a castle?” Jordi suggested, as they both took a seat.

“Neat. You’ll know how to put the base together to make it last. Can it have turrets?” Sue asked, digging into the bin.

“How about three?” Jordi already had an idea in mind.

“Perfect. Wait! If we’re making a castle, we need to be princesses.” Sue jumped up to run to the dresser. Sitting on top were two tiaras.

Returning to the table, she looked at both and handed over a gorgeous blue one. “You have to wear this one. It matches your outfit.”

“It’s so pretty. Are you sure it’s okay for me to wear it?”

“Of course. We’re princesses!” Sue exclaimed as she set one with white stones on her head.

“I love being a princess!” Jordi cheered.

“You’re a beautiful princess,” Callen’s voice assured her from the doorway. “You princesses doing okay?”

The two Littles looked at each other and laughed. Sue had been right. Jordi’s Daddy was the first one to check on them.

Jordi stood and walked carefully to her Daddy as she balanced her tiara on her head. “Look, Daddy. I get to be a princess here, too. And we’re making a castle!”

“You are having fun, aren’t you? I’ll get out of the way. Princesses need plenty of room to create castle masterpieces!”

“Thanks, Daddy,” Jordi said and anchored her tiara on her head with one hand as she rushed back to help with the construction project.

Chapter Twelve

Waking up the next morning wrapped in her Daddy’s arms, Jordi lifted her head to check the time before pressing a kiss to his hard chest. “Good morning, Daddy.”
