“Do you … is it like a need?” he asked. This was too damn good.
“Sometimes, yes.”
Did she have the same needs that he had?
“Er, so ever since we’ve, you know, I have felt this attraction and arousal. It—I have to take care of it myself.”
She released another sigh. “Just ask me, Klaus.”
“Do you have to masturbate more regularly than usual?”
He saw her cheeks had gone red.
Poppy pulled her hand away and stood. “I think it is time we head back.”
“You do, don’t you?”
“Klaus, come on. Can we not do this? At least not here.” She looked around at the forest.”
“But I’m curious.”
“Then be curious, but don’t bring me into this.” She groaned. “I don’t want to talk about this.” She went to leave, but Klaus quickly moved in front of her. Why was he always chasing after her?
“I think about you when I do,” Klaus said.
“Okay.”
“Do you think about me?”
She pressed her lips together and stared at him. Her eyes were so green, so sharp, so beautiful. He could fall into them so easily. “Yes.”
He cupped her cheek.
“Klaus?”
“Just a kiss. One kiss. That is all I want, please.”
“One kiss?” She held up her finger.
“Yes, just one.”
She nodded.
He stepped closer to her so their bodies were touching. She didn’t push him away.
Klaus wanted her. He craved her. This need was suddenly so overwhelming. It would be so easy to push for more.
A kiss.
He wouldn’t break his word.
Her lips were so plump, so inviting, and when he pressed his lips to them, he found them soft at first. Supple.
Poppy’s hands went to his waist, and he sank one of his hands into her hair. She didn’t have the time to put it up, and he got the chance to hold her, to touch her, to feel her soft curls. Her hair was as soft as he imagined.
Running his other hand down her back, he stopped just above her ass, not wanting to push her boundaries but at the same time wishing he could. He was so fucking hungry for her.
The soft kiss deepened.
He traced his tongue across her lips. She gasped. Klaus took full advantage and slid his tongue between her lips, and then kissed her harder than ever before.
She tasted of coffee and maple syrup. He wanted to wipe out the memory of Greg from her mind. That other male shouldn’t be in her house, serving her breakfast. He shouldn’t be anywhere near her.
Klaus vowed to take care of Greg. To make sure the other man was so worn out, he didn’t even give Poppy the time of day.
Chapter Six
“I thought you’d be showing Greg around,” Anna asked.
Poppy looked up from the shelf she’d been dusting to glance at her mother. “Huh?”
“Greg. I thought you were going to show him around?”
“Oh, I was, but Klaus said it would be the perfect opportunity for them to get to know each other. You know, being the alphas’ sons and all that. Like some kind of club.”
Anna chuckled. “Klaus is a good boy.”
“Is he?” Poppy asked, not wanting to draw attention to him. Her lips still tingled from the kiss they’d shared. The way he’d stroked her hair, she’d loved the feel of his hands running through her locks. It was why her hair was down. She never wore her hair down. The length used to irritate her.
Today, it didn’t seem to.
You want Klaus again.
Her body had been on fire since that morning. Since the kiss. She couldn’t stop thinking about Klaus. She knew her wolf wanted to go to him.
Stupid bodily needs.
She was a virgin, but sex didn’t scare her.
Had Klaus been with anyone?
It wasn’t unheard of for wolves to have sex with other wolves before they found others. Their sex drives were crazy. Their need to be part of a pack, to be connected, to love, to fuck, it was legendary.
“I think he is going to make a fine alpha someday,” Anna said. “You know, it’s strange, but he does seem to be appearing around here more often. Did you and him have a thing through high school?”
“What? No. No thing. Klaus and I barely saw each other.”
“You’re the same age.”
“Not completely. He’s older than me.” Her heart started to race.
“Honey, why are you blushing?”
“I’m not blushing. It is so hot in here, don’t you think?” She hated that she was about to change the subject and especially who she was about to talk about. “Speaking of boys, I saw the way Lionel looked at you.” She didn’t want to talk about her mother’s sex life. Poppy had tried to keep herself away from any dangerous topics like that. She knew her mother enjoyed male company.
“Oh, Lionel, he has always been a sweetheart.”
“He doesn’t have his mate,” Poppy said.
“I know. It is so sad.”
“Do you think he wants you … now?”
Anna looked up and put down her tools. She was working on a brand-new piece of jewelry. Poppy didn’t know exactly who for, as her mother had said it was a recently commissioned piece. If her mother didn’t want to tell her, then she didn’t see a reason to pry.
