“I think I’m ready to marry you,” Selma suddenly blurted.
I set my food aside and grabbed her hands in mine, my heart beating rapidly against my chest. “You mean that?” I’d been ready since the moment I put that promise ring on her finger, but I’d been waiting for her.
I would always wait for her. Because she was worth it.
She nodded. “I am. I want to marry you, Remi.”
I clasped her face in my hands and tugged her head down so I could kiss her. She smiled into the kiss. “I’ll put the ring on your finger tonight,” I told her as I rested my forehead against hers, our eyes meeting. “Courthouse or an actual wedding?”
“I want a big wedding,” she told me. “With our family in attendance.”
I pressed a tender kiss to the tip of her nose. “You can have whatever you want, baby girl.”
“I love you,” she murmured.
I brushed my thumb over her cheek, my heart so full, it was on the verge of bursting. “I love you, too, Selma.”
