He pretends to mull it over, and I love this. I love that I’m with a man that I can tease, someone who can tease me in return. Our playful banter is often the highlight of my busy day. “Depends. What kind of benefits can I expect?”
“We offer dental benefits, health insurance, and regular blowjobs,” I add the last part cheekily. He’s definitely going to handcuff me to the bed tonight. I can see it on his face.
“That last part applies to the CEO only,” he growls at me before he drops his head and kisses me breathless.
When Levi grunts, we spring apart. He’s getting so big, and he’s more curious than ever. Last week, he took his first steps. When he fell and bumped his head, Roman rushed him to see Dr. Cash and tried to insist his son needed a brain scan.
Somehow, Cash managed to keep a straight face while reassuring my overbearing man that our son was fine and that babies fall sometimes. He even gave Levi a bandage for his bruise that was totally unnecessary, but it seemed to soothe Roman. At least, for the moment.
I think maybe he’s so overprotective because he didn’t have anyone looking out for him when he was a boy. Unlike Roman, my son will have a father who always loves and protects him.
“Will you take the job?” It would be nice to have Roman around, but it would also stop him from demanding that I work on his truck all the time. My grumpy husband doesn’t like it when other men come to the auto shop, so he’s always here to claim his stake anyway. “We could start on a trial basis.”
“Only if you were serious about that last part.” He winks and goes to pick up our son. He bounces him in his arms. “What do you think, buddy? Do you want to see Daddy here every day?”
Levi grunts his approval. He’s such a caveman, like his daddy. He knows several words, but he still prefers to communicate with grunts and sighs.
“I want to see Daddy every day.” I wink and kiss him. My life is darn near perfect. I have everything a girl could ask for including my handsome mountain man. I’m so glad I snuck into his cabin and he came home early one day. He found me and insisted I marry him and it’s been nothing but happy memories ever since.
I wave goodbye to Levi and reach for the doorknob. I glance over my shoulder. “Oh yeah, baby number two is on the way.”
I hear him curse, and I smile as I start through the bay. Pretty soon, my big mountain man is going to catch up with me. No doubt he’ll want to take me home and celebrate this new little life.
