Did that mean he was going to leave?
Would he come back?
When was he going to come back?
“You’re being silly. Go talk to him.” Gideon’s quiet words made me jump, which earned a giggle from the naughty little. “This silly boy is going to miss out on a sweet Daddy if he’s too shy.”
Yeah, because the silly boy in question was so loud and brave.
Maybe Papa Ansel would read the silly boy’s mind?
Inching closer to Gideon, I took my binkie out. “But he’s…”
He might say no.
He might not have noticed me.
Maybe he’d asked for pictures from everyone?
Whispering, Gideon frowned at me as he wiggled closer. “He asked for your picture. He came to visit to look for a little. He thought about his name. And you like big alphas.”
That had me blushing guiltily but it made Gideon giggle. “I bet he could pick you up and carry you around too.”
He was so naughty.
“You need to stop talking your Daddy into doing grown-up things in the playroom.” Gideon was still nervous around other people when he was little but he wasn’t nervous with his Daddy. Nope. He was almost Austin-level naughty when he was with his Daddy.
It was one of the reasons I liked him.
Gideon shook his head as he grinned wickedly. “Not going to promise that. But I’ve seen Papa Ansel around the club, and I think he likes naughty grown-up things too.”
With a little or just with the other regular subs?
I couldn’t help looking over at the two alphas whispering in the corner. “He has my picture.”
Gideon nodded and his smile got even wider. “He talked about it too and told you a story.”
“He told everyone a story.” And he’d read books for Dessie and the other littles too. “He might not like me special.”
He might just be looking at the littles and not actually shopping for one.
People did that with puppies too.
They’d look but wouldn’t touch.
Would Papa Ansel want to touch?
“He doesn’t know you yet, silly.” Gideon shook his head like he thought I was being ridiculous. “He kept looking at you, though, and he didn’t get nervous when you were sitting next to him when he was reading. Oh, and he smiles at you a lot.”
I was pretty sure he was smiling at everyone to help us remember that he wasn’t big and scary. He was just big without the scary part.
“Maybe he’ll come back.” Yes, I was good at being patient. “I’ll color him another picture next time.”
I could do that.
Papa Ansel liked animals.
Gideon snorted. “If you don’t at least talk to him, I’m going to tell Austin you need help.”
He wouldn’t.
Oh, he would.
“You’re a meanie.” I was so focused on Gideon’s threat that I jumped when something moved on the other side of me. “Oh.”
Oh…
It was Papa Ansel.
“What did he do?” Papa Ansel looked very sweet and couldn’t seem to decide if he got to frown at Gideon or not.
I wanted to say something…I really did…and that would be my story if Gideon told Austin I needed help, but somehow I grabbed my binkie and shoved it in my mouth.
Papa Ansel’s lips twitched but he didn’t smile or laugh. “It was that mean, huh?”
I could nod and I was really good at looking panicked, so I just focused on that. It made Papa Ansel sigh. “I’m sorry he was mean. Did you get a boo-boo?”
Sadly, I had to shake my head.
No boo-boos meant no kisses.
Papa Ansel frowned and looked very nice and serious. “So he just said something mean?”
I managed a nod that was very clear but the whole thing made Gideon giggle. That just made Papa Ansel very confused. He was glancing between us and I must’ve looked naughty or guilty or something because he looked at Gideon. “Can you tell me what happened?”
Oh dear.
He wouldn’t.
No, he wouldn’t do that to me.
He would if his Daddy said so. “Gideon, were you being naughty? Do you need to tell Papa Ansel what happened?”
Oh dear.
Uncle Jarrett was being helpful.
“I’m your good boy, Daddy.” And he was very eager to confess his sins because he just vomited out everything. “I told Charlie that he should talk to Papa Ansel because he liked that Papa Ansel wanted his picture and he thinks Papa Ansel is a very big alpha. Oh, and a nice papa too because he colors and reads books.”
Tattletale.
I had to hide, so I ducked behind Gideon but I could only fit my head. I was hoping that since it worked for the big birds in cartoons, it would work for me.
“Daddy, you know Charlie likes big alphas that read and cuddle and do naughty stuff to their grown-up subs, but he wasn’t sure he could tell that to Papa Ansel, so I told him I’d help.” I could hear the glee in Gideon’s voice. “But he didn’t want me to ask Austin for help, but Daddy, littles need help sometimes.”
