Walking across, I meet Brielle by her open bedroom window and hold out my hand for the tequila. She offers it up and I pass her my takeout before making myself comfortable beside her. She digs straight into the food as I take a long swig, hating the burn as it sails down my throat. I’m not a massive fan of tequila, but I’m not going to say no if it’ll help ease the ache of what’s going on with my sister.

“You wanna talk about it?” she asks around a mouthful of noodles.

I shake my head and glance across at her. “Nope. You?”

“Nope.”

Perfect.

We eat in silence and the calm that settles through my chest puts me at ease for the first time in five long weeks. I’ve been nothing but angry but sitting in her presence soothes me, and I’m already addicted to it.

Once the takeout container filled with noodles is completely demolished, Bri leans back onto her hands as I sip at the bottle of tequila, welcoming the way it dulls my emotions. “You know,” she says after being silent for nearly forty-five minutes. “Watching me through my window is next level fucked up.”

Don’t I fucking know it!

A grin lingers on my lips as I turn back to meet her heavy stare. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Bri rolls her eyes, unable to hide the smirk that plays on her lips. She reaches forward and snatches the tequila from my hands before taking another swig. “Sure you don’t.”

Taking the bottle back from her, I place it down on the roof between us before catching her wrist and pulling her to me. She doesn’t flinch away or even hesitate, so I take her waist and lift her right onto my lap until she’s straddled over me, her hands clutching my shoulders to keep steady.

My fingers curl around the back of her neck, my thumb brushing over her jaw and watching as she tilts to the side, her eyes fluttering at my touch. I draw her into me, and she comes willingly, curling her arm further around my neck until her body presses against mine, the heat of her pussy rocking against my hardening cock.

My lips press to her shoulder and slowly work their way up her neck, moving gently and watching how she reacts. Her breath grows heavy, and her fingers dig into my skin, probably leaving perfect little half-moons from her nails.

A soft moan slips between her lips, and I crave to capture them in mine, but she’s been drinking, and I’m not about to kiss her when any other day, she would have pushed me away. My lips work her neck with hunger, trailing up to the sensitive spot below her ear. She groans, grinding down against me as my arms wrap around her petite body.

Her hand shifts around me and I hesitantly pull back, knowing damn well if I don’t stop, I’ll pick her up and take her straight back to her room where neither one of us will be able to stop. Heat shines through her eyes as she looks back at me, her need evident all over her body. “Why aren’t you pulling away from me, Killjoy?”

“Probably for the same reason you came up here.”

“I highly doubt that.”

She arches a brow and presses her hands against my shoulders, pulling back and giving herself just a fraction of space. “You watch me all day at school. I feel your eyes on me every time I walk into a room. You search me out just as I do to you, only every fiber of my body is screaming at me to hate you, and don’t even try to deny that you’re trying to hate me too. But you can’t. I’m your distraction from the real world. Tormenting me is the best fun you’ve ever had, and you know what? For some fucked-up reason, I can’t get enough of it.”

I shake my head and reach up, brushing her golden blonde hair off the side of her face. “I think you’re thinking too hard into this,” I tell her, cupping the side of her face and becoming addicted to the feel of her body against mine. “I do hate you. You don’t mean shit to me.”

“Uh-huh,” she says. “Sure I don’t.”

I lean back against the roof and hold her stare. “You know Riley is into you,” I tell her, not wanting to tell her how much this bothers me.

“He’s not,” she tells me, making my brows arch. “He only thinks he is. Don’t get me wrong, messing around with him would be fun. He’s a flirt but that’s all it is. He’d keep it lighthearted, and I bet he fucks like a pornstar, but he wants what he can’t have. He sees whatever … this hot mess is and knows that I’m not interested in him, so he’s turning his attention on me because he knows that as long as you hold my attention, it will never be anything real.”
