I took a platinum ring from my pocket. Every continent was subtly etched into its surface, as a promise to keep exploring and to never revert back to my comfort zone. And inside, I’d had it inscribed with the latitude and longitude of our house in San Francisco, so we’d take a reminder of home with us wherever we went.
As I slipped the ring onto his left hand, I said, “Make me the happiest man alive and marry me, Tima.”
He looked stunned as he held up his hand and stared at the ring. Then he launched himself at me, grabbing me in an embrace as the most wonderful thing happened.
He said yes.
